Funky, comfortable and clean with friendly staff. It was family friendly, and the BBQ was fantastic. A great pool to help keep cool. A little far from towm, but there was a free shuttle. A great place to stay.

This is the 1st hostel i've stayed in and I was pleasantly surprised with how extremely clean the bathrooms and kitchens are. The staff and guests are all really friendly and full of information to help book tours and transport etc. including free transport into town (it's a 20 minute walk). Free wifi and computer access, towels are provided as well as bed linen. The only negative thing I can think of is it has set my standards very high for the rest of the hostels I will stay in on my travels!

We arrived in Cairns late in the afternoon but were still immediately hit by the heat and humidity. Cairns is located in the far north of Queensland and has a tropical climate, so the heat wasn't a shock but it was worse than we expected, given it's still early in the season. It's quite a small place and seems to exist mostly to support tourism - …

      Jack's Story

This morning, I woke up and felt excited but at the same time nervous because I was going to the Great Barrier Reef! The reason I was nervous was because of the jellyfish and I had never been snorkeling before. But once I was in the water, I was having the time of my life. We went to 2 different reefs and the names were Norman …

Our Jetstar flight on Sunday night was an advertised budget airline bargain at $130 pp, across the country, 45 degrees bottom to top, left to right, but once you'd picked a seat, put your bag on board and checked in, the final fee was a less thrifty $200 pp (108). We had a bumpy landing and aching legs from our economy contortion. Our hostel …
