Glacier Hiking, Rafting and Wine Tasting!
We woke up early Friday morning for our hike up the Franz Josef Glacier. After getting fitted for our boots and gear, and short bus trip to the mountain, we spent the ENTIRE day on the ice. Unfortunately, the weather was a little overcast but, as usual, the 4 vagabonds made the best of it. We hiked up icy paths and squeezes ourselves through tiny …
Hanmer to The West Coast
After 2 nights in Hanmer Springs we set off for the Lewis Pass.
We were lucky again to have fantastic weather and amazing views. We drove over Lewis Pass which also had some great views along with some very windy, tree lined parts.
We headed towards a little town called Murchison and Buller Gorge. We had provisionally made a …
West Coast - abgehakt :-)

TravelPod Member ReviewsTripInn Hostel Westport
This is a very functional hostel. The living room has a sofa and 4 chairs plus a TV and a very, very warm fire. There are numerous dining tables and 2 computers. The kitchen is well equipped. The threat of video cameras watching your every move and eviction if you don't clean up after yourself means it was pretty tidy!
Our room was a double with shared bathroom. The room was an OK size with a small wardrobe. Sadly we could hear the couple next door talking at normal level. We were also next to the bathroom. There were signs up saying no showers after 10pm or before 7am and someone ignored it and got a shower at 6.30am.
We had considered Basil Hostel until we drove past and saw a Kiwi Experience bus outside and decided against it. We met friends who'd looked at it earlier and they said Tripinn was better.
For 1 night it was OK for us.

Very nice hostel with dog and cat and fire oven. Very much space and nice equipped facilities. Bike rental possible and nice beds. The shower is nice and not just like the normal showers. Not so crowded but if it is crowded there should be enough space for everybody...
