... adults. Eventually we gave up and sat out in the sunshine with a beer. A boy from the bar had to carry our beer across the concrete strip to a seating area near the sea, because the concrete strip was not licensed for alcohol. Not just the UK that's barmy then !

In the evening, Malcolm led a number of us to his favourite Indian restaurant where we had a brilliant very hot curry. We talked to the owner afterwards and discovered that he had emigrated from Leicester !

... things left over from Asia - items from months earlier in Oamaru, there was a good selection. A mixture of newspaper and a Tshirt I bought in Bangkok for £2 were used as wrapping materials, taped the box as much as we could with the tape that was still left over from the Singapore parcel as back to the Post Shop to send it! Helpful staff, good location and everything you need. However the only window in my room was over the smoking area, and they have long-term lodgers who work in local bars and disturb you at 4am...
