Helpful staff, good location and everything you need. However the only window in my room was over the smoking area, and they have long-term lodgers who work in local bars and disturb you at 4am...

... right. We rocked up on the first day for this 20km, 8 hour hike over two volcanoes in shorts, t shirts and trainers and were told that we were not only woefully under-prepared but also hours too late to tackle it. The next day, kitted out with borrowed hiking boots and waterproof trousers and after a self-flattering assessment of our fitness levels, we set out... ... shower before heading into town to meet my friends.

Now I know people like to drink in England- but this was NUTS! Whole streets were shut off to allow room for all the Sevens spectators (see at the end of my post for some info of the Sevens!) and when me and my friend Anthony wanted to go visit our friend on one of these closed off roads- they searched us AND ID'd us...... But that really hadn't prepared me for how nuts the rest of the night would be.
