We always knew that the flight from Los Angeles to Sydney was going to be long - 15 hours to be precise. It was due to leave at 10.30 on Sunday night and because of the changes in time zones and crossing the international date line we would arrive in Sydney, after 15 hours, at 8.30 a.m. on Tuesday! Monday just got lost! This time thing blows my …

After landing into Sydney all we could think about was getting through customs, we might have looked at a lot of border patrol before we left and we were expecting a good searching of the bags. As it turns out though its not that bad at all. I declared that I had the hurl and was told it would have to be checked before I could bring it in, …

We arrived in Sydney Airport at 9am after around 18 hours flying, surprisingly awake - which was probably excitement. We were staying in a hostel in the Kings Cross area of Sydney, the backpacker district (ok, the red light district, so the only place cheap enough for backpackers). Cue my rant about the strong Aussie dollar... every blimin thing is …

Nice cave, can I go now?

The next day we were heading back to Sydney, but not before stopping off at some famous caves that were a popular tourist trap here. The caves in question were in the Blue Mountains and Rach in particular was really looking forward to going. We had an hour's drive to get there which was fairly painless. We foolishly presumed that, being naturally …

Time for a new continent

Extremely hungover today due to far too many jugs of lager last night, so I'll do my best with this one.

The day started with a 5.30am wake up which was nice! We were told by the bloke at the hostel that flagging a taxi would be easy, no problem he said, you'll get one straight away. Well 20 minutes of wandering around Singapore waving at …

Ideally located for visiting Sydney, both on foot and by public transport.
Staff very pleasant and helpful - went the extra mile!
Room was clean and we had an en suite bathroom.
Nice courtyard area for sitting outside and meeting people.
    Would recommend this hostel

When we first got there and saw the yellow walls, smelled the dampness, and felt the hard bed we weren't that impressed. However, when we moved to another guest house after seeing a few of them we couldn't wait to get back here. Good security, good kitchen facilities, free breakfast.
