Praha never gets old

Prague is one of the most well preserved cities in post-war Europe and is just one of those gems of a city you'll find very few and far between. My first time around I loved it and had a blast with my Salzburg fam, and this time around I had a blast with my hometown boys. It's a great walking city, just grab an ipod, throw on some Oasis, and walk around. Its one of the great things in life and its easy to see almost the whole city on a 2-hour walk. The sights are just stunning and the gothic ...

Glaswegian Blues Legend In Czech Republic. Honest

Arriving in the afternoon gave me plenty of time to find the tourist information center, procure a city map, guide and list of hostels, and even to sit in a bar and study them for a while, in order not to make any rash decisions. I sat, drank my beer, pondered the middle distance and watched people walking by, before heading off in the direction of the first hostel on the list. This central hostel seemed, at first glance, less than ideal. The rooms were all on the first floor, accessed throug...

Wasted evening

When I got back to the hostel I found Leanne and Bojana, who I´d chatted with a few times over the last few days. I wanted to celebrate my last night in Prague, and Bojana wanted to relax, so we went to see Stan the Man. The local schnapps that she insisted we sample having gone to her head, I carried her back to the hostel. As we went in to the reception, I felt what Sartre would call the Look, from the the receptionist and another guest as I carried an obviously wasted girl up to a shared d...

A hard tale

Note well, anyone who is in the habit of casually dismissing those in the front line of the hospitality industry, that nearly all them are students, and will one day soon be richer and more powerful than you. The receptionist was a Phd student of international relations, who has traveled extensively in Iran, Pakistan, and India. She is 26, Blonde, and beautiful, and therefore somewhere near the top of the list of People Who Conventional Wisdom Would Prohibit From Extensive Travel In Iran, Pak...

De-clawed, last day in the Golden City

Okay, it had been eight extremely lethargic, awesome, wonderful days slothing around the amazing city of Prague, and today would be my last chance to take in everything the gorgeour place had to offer. I checked out of Miss Sophies after beginning to feel like a long term resident of the joint, and moseyed on down to the Tesco for another pov breakfast. The bums mingled around amongst the well dressed and affluent, and i watched the contrasts keenly as i slurped down a Yoplait without a spoon...

Getting a job & meeting people

... so i am happy i lucked upon this one). I was going to do private lessons as you learn more faster, but apart from additional cost of private lessons I thought that a class would be a great way to meet others. So a class it is!

I met two expats for dinner and beer. One from the US, she is also teaching English, and one from Sweden and she is here ...

Prague 1-2

Olingi eksinud. Leidsin lõpuks kaardi ning sain järje peale. Jõudsin kenasti hotelli. Check in. Tuba üle vaadatud, suundusin linna vaatamisväärsustega tutvuma ja suveniire ostma.

Prague...not bad mate

... do her job interview. She had just decided to move to Prague from Aussietown, and I was at the forefront of her celebration party. We met again for dessert and coffee, and afterwards walked hand in hand for hours and hours and hours. Our quest for Absinth and chocolate was little more than a cheap visage for the obviously painful fact that we didnt want to let eachother go. We had come so close these few short days, and more now than ever, goodbyes are so bloody hard. Ive ...

Bone Church and crazy night

... hung out with them for the day. We then went to another cathedral close by that was under construction. Because it was under construction with scaffolding everywhere it was pretty empty, so that meant perfect for exploring the parts we weren't supposed to. So we went behind the giant tarps by the altar and found a small stairway which we had to climb. Once we got to the top we found a small door where we had to go through. Then we found ...

... we watched a special on Casablance and Marty thought we should go there; he has to be kept constantly under restraint. It takes all my newly regained strength. He's already talking about the next time we come back here (Prague or Europe somewhere) and where we should live, but I haven't reached that point in my thinking. However, I think we have agreed that we want to keep downscaling our physical possessions at home in our two houses, and we are wondering if we want to have ...
