... to American pushed out of their homeland by the continuing famine. Whilst their was very little hope of survival at home New York would not have been the place of comfort they might have hoped for. Irish, Chinese and black emigrants were the main population in the New York five points area (now modern day China Town) they would have had a very poor quality of life, with no sanitation and very cramped and dirty living conditions. We left Manhattan at 8pm and had an amazing cruise out of NYC along the Hudson, passed the Statue of Liberty and then under the Verrazano Narrows Bridge. 490 people total so quite small. Very nice crew. Newport ...

... The weather was particularly oppressive that day and we were hoping it would thunderstorm over brunch to clear the air but we were not in luck. Jack, Steve, Thomas and I walked the high line after brunch. Well, we walked 5mins of it. It was just too hot that we had to get out of the sun and into some air conditioning. We decided to walk around Chelsea Market instead and then headed home for some down time watching ...
