Day 1 of Route 66!

... and ate cheese fondue and shrimps and had tequila margaritas! Yum. The show was fantastic! Amazing talents and the 2 leads did a great job, many goosebump moments!

Because of the time difference we have now been up for 24 hours and are very tired, so back to the hotel to sleep ready to meet our trek America group in the morning to begin the route along 'route 66'

MONDAY 8th JUNE 2015

Just to amend the last entry, the choir at South Ozone Park also included some very tuneful brothers - I shouldn't have left them out!

It was loudly and windy with a thunderstorm forecast for later. A maximum in the low 20s is expected.

Today we leave Washington after a short stay. We are training it to New York and the train doesn't leave till 1 pm. Checkout is 11 am we have time this morning to pack and re juggle and repack cases as the train is strict on 50 lb per bag.
We check out at 11 am and get a transfer car to Union Station which is a 20 min walk but 7 min by car. We get this really cool black dude. He wants to know why Aussies take 4 weeks a year and come ...

... All very interesting. For you today only $600. So we said no and we're basically chained to our seats to listen to more about these magical products. In the end Mardi made a small purchase, more so we could get out of the shop, but the products were all vegan and not tested on animals so met with Mardi's buying needs.

We wandered the streets for a couple of more hours before boarding the subway home.
