This last week one of my classmates, Betsy, invited us to come with her to Tianjin, a city almost as big as Beijing on the coast. It is only a half hour train ride on the high-speed train, very convenient for a weekend trip. Before we left on Saturday I met with another potential English student. So far my jobs keep getting canceled and I really …

Last night I stayed in Tianjin City Youth Hostel. It wasn't great. The common area looked like all the couches were bought at a garage sale and the staff wasn't very helpful. It didn't really have a youth hostel feel. No towels and the showers went from hot to ice cold on a whim. But it was cheap and available. Maybe I'm spoiled by the hostels in Beijing.
