The tree house was fantastic. Gerhard and his staff were absolutely amazing and accommodating. It felt like we were all apart of a big family inside this hostel. The food was sensational and the downstairs bar area was perfect. The hostel is in the perfect spot out of town and surrounded by trees with a river running through its backyard!

One of the best stays I've had on my trip

One of the best places I've stayed for hospitality, the staff treat you like family, it's incredible. The Austrian countryside is mindblowingly stunning, a great place to relax but also get back to nature. Gerhard and Heidi were incredible hosts, we had home cooked meals every night, and the best home made cider from a local farmer. I can not rave about this place enough, I highly highly recommend staying here!

    Hey hey hey

I hope all is well as it is with us.

We last left off after a long bike ride through the Wachou Valley on the outskirts of Austria. We hopped onto the bus and we head on our way to the much talked about stop called Grunau. Our tour guide for the bus ride is Ben the Canadian veteran busabout guide in his 6< …

Our next stop on this amazing journey was a small country town in the heart of Austria, Grünau im Almtal. This is probably one of the funest stops on the busabout loop. The hostel, also know as the Tree House, is a family owned business, run by Gerhard. The hostel gives off a very strong sense of it being very homey, upon our arrival to the hostel …

Grünau turned out to be one of those amazing little hidden gems that you never expect to come across. We arrived at lunchtime to the smell of delicious homemade lasagne by Gerhard, the owner of the Treehouse. Heidi, the woman who took care of all the check-ins and money, her two little kids Lizzy and Max and older son Sebastian, and Gabby, a …

They had me at Lasagna Lunch- Wednesday 23rd July Grünau had much anticipation. When Chanel and I sat down to book our Busabout route, we had read about this little Austrian town as a backpackers oasis, a little hidden gem. The drive through Austria itself was simply breath taking. Think cute wooden cottages surrounded by never ending green …

... an hour- we checked just before we left, saying we hope that the sun will burn away the clouds as it did yesterday. He did not tell us that we could have caught the bus up the hill. So we walked for an hour of which half of it was climbing up a steep hill on a winding road. ( that's all I am going to say). We walked along the fast flowing river, then along a very fast flowing creek going down hill and the trees became very tall and at points we could see over them. ...
