To Barnaby Bear and Year One Hello hope you all enjoyed your summer holidays. We are in Sydney, Australia. The flight here was good it took us 7 and ½ hours from Singapore. The weather here is quite cold. In Australia August is in their winter so it is cold and rains a lot more. Their summer time is around Christmas when everyone goes to the beach and has BBQ's. We are staying in a nice place called the Pink House and it is painted bright pink. We have been out exploring most days. On our fir...
Sydney, Australia bertiebearI was in Sydney for three months in all. The first six weeks were frittered away soaking up the sun, drinking copious amounts of goon, oh and looking for a job! After trying a few different hostels, including a brief stint in Manly, which I had to leave due to extreme jealousy surrounding Kearas lovely sea view flat. Eventually I settled in the Pink House, in Kings Cross, the backpacker haven/red light district of Sydney. Along with the *****s and junkies I was to call this home for the next ...
Sydney, Australia bexybThought I deserved a little holiday after my six weeks of hard work watching movies and eating pizza, so me and Clare from the Pink House had a bit of emotional goodbye from Sydney, and headed out on the twelve hour overnight bus journey to Byron Bay. Here we mate up with my mates Cara and Polly, who were chefs at the cinema and had decided to spend their entire earnings from the last six weeks on a mad week of fancy dining, drinking and lots of things I wont even mention here. Byron was pret...
Stanthorpe, Australia bexybI arrived in Sydney in the middle of August and have had a fantastic time here. I can't believe my time is nearly up! Initially I stayed in a really nice friendly hostel called The Pink House in the infamous Kings Cross. It was off the main drag so I wasn't subjected to the local riff raff and as it was quite a small hostel I got to meet some really nice people. I've been doing freelance graphic design work which has gone really well. Its been great to experience how the different companies w...
Sydney, Australia evelyncagneySo we left Byron Bay and opted to take an overnight bus down to Sydney to save money on a nights accomodation (always thinking me) and it turned out to be quite a comfortable journey. We even got the chance to stop at The Big Prawn restaurant in Ballina for fish and chips. This restaurant literally has a big prawn on the roof which i thought was amazing but what we didnt know at the time was that it is a major tourist attraction!!! We arrived in Sydney at sunrise and James woke me up just as ...
Sydney, Australia fayeandrachelAfter two months, I must say it was a strange feeling to be packing my bag again! This afternoon we finally left Sydney and flew to Melbourne! I'm quite excited about being on the move again, even if it's only for a week! On the other hand, The Pink House has in a way become my home away from home, with a lot of good memories! I think we picked a good week to head off, as three days ago some strange older (read 45) Ozzie dude from Melbourne checked into our room. We pretty much haven't seen h...
Sydney, Australia hamster English further down.
Jeg har forelsket meg. Jeg har forelsket meg i Sydney. :-)
Our flight was good, the food was ok, but I didn't manage to get any sleep. Sydney is only 2 hours ahead of Singapore so Jet Lag shouldn't be a problem but we were travelling all night. We arrived in Sydney at 5:30am and my god it was cold. We had no idea where to go so sat down, drank coffee and looked at the hundreds of leaflets that were available. We decided to stay at the Pink House and found a mini bus to take us there. It was a good job we had waited a while at the airport as the hoste...
Sydney, Australia jm_littledevilWell I guess some of you are wandering what the hell has happened to us over the last few months. Sorry that we haven't written much bit we really haven't been doing that much. We returned to the Pink House and I ended up working here doing the cleaning. Shocking I know but before you have a heart attack you'll be pleased to know that my bed and surrounding area is a tip and I haven't seen the carpet for about a month (other than Friday mornings when everything gets heaved onto the bed for ou...
Sydney, Australia jm_littledevilThe next big hostel event was the Pink House Olympics. All who were taking part were spilt up into 5 teams then competed in a number of events they were as follows. Weight Lifting Goon Lifting Hold up 4 litre box of goon (wine) with one arm stretched out to your side. When you collapse pass it on to the next team member. The fastest team wins Rowing Drinking Sit in your teams in a line. Each person downs a can of VB beer, when you are done put your can your head and the next team member begin...
