Hostel seems a bit run down and needs a good clean.
Staff could have been more helpful and friendly particularly for a tired single traveller new in town!
Facilities OK, good size communal area. Good location. "Free" Breakfast very poor, you need to put deposit down for cutlery and plate/bowl etc, and provide your own milk. Waste of time for me as only staying 2 nights. Doesn't even come close to other hostels I've stayed in. But I don't know what the comparison is like with nearby hostels in Perth.

          Day 41

My first day in hostels. I've got 4 nights booked at The Old Swan Barracks hostel in Northbridge. The hostel is nice enough, and the 6 bed room is fairly clean. But the aircon is so ******* loud! It's a big place but it's not very busy. Ended up going to a nearby bar called Mustang, and watched the T20 cricket semifinal with a guy from New Zealand …

We landed in sunny Perth two hours behind Melbourne. So we're now seven hours ahead of the UK. A lovely city, apart from the fight the Aboriginals nearly caused on the bus on the way in!

Most importantly we picked up the Spaceships camper van. It's bright orange and called "Dyna-Soar"!

          Goodbye Oz

On the morning we were due to get the train we bought the Sunday paper and found our interview was briefly mentioned - see the attached photo. Upon boarding the Indian Pacific later that evening we found lots of complimentary copies, so grabbed a few for our scrapbooks. The article mentioned that the pavement temperature during the pageant was a...
