      Good facilities, average location

As the title says, the facilities are all good and clean. The kitchens are all a good size too.
The location on the other hand isn't brilliant, but this has a lot to do with the recent earthquake. If the city wasn't fenced off the walk into town would only be 10-15 minutes. As it is, you have to walk a long way around to get to the cargo container shops. A real shame. It will be good again when the city is back together.

      Great Hostel!

This place is very clean and seems a lot newer than the dirty old run down hostels you see elsewhere even though it's built in older houses. The beds are super comfy and there are multiple kitchen areas, bathrooms and lounge areas available to everyone.
We really liked it because it didn't seem to hold the really young loud and drunken scene we've seen; of course you can still meet in the kitchen for drinks and such but people seem to be more respectable of the rooms.
Also they ask you to take your shoes off at the door so the floors aren't black and dingy and you can have a shower without shoes.

We made the three hour journey from Kaikoura to Christchurch with InterCity. Our tickets were $15 each, with a small booking fee, and included a brand new air conditioned coach, complete with free wifi. It was a pain free and easy journey and before we knew it we were in The Garden City of Christchurch. As we have mentioned before the earthquakes …

After several flights and no sleep I've finally made it to New Zealand! A really helpful guy at the airport sorted me a shuttle bus straight away to take me to my hostel; hostel seemed OK but not many people about. Got a Subway for dinner (classy!), ordered a chicken and bacon ranch, got back to the hostel to find she'd forgotten the chicken, …
