Flamenco! 5-1!
On Sunday we went on a tour with our hostel to see Flamenco play at the Maracana football stadium. It was amazing, it was more like going to a party than a football match, the fans just play drums and sing and dance the whole way through, it puts British football to shame. Flamenco won 5-1, apprently they weren't doing so well last season and were …

Rio de Janeiro
We arrived in Rio **** scared because of all of the stories, half expecting to be dodging bullets and onslaughts of taxi men trying to either rob us, kidnap us, rip us off or all of the above as soon as we landed. We were however pleasantly surprised that nothing bad happened and we went to the taxi desk and got a taxi straight away. The journey …

TravelPod Member ReviewsThe Mango Tree Rio de Janeiro
Excellent location, staff and facilities! They went out of their way to help me as I had a new ATM card shipped there.

The Mango tree is a good all around hostel with good enough facilities. The showers are decent which is more than can be said about many others in Brazil. Some of the shared rooms are a little cramped but manageable. The kitchen area is of a reasonable size as is TV room. There is a nice open bar area were drinks are served until 10pm. This is also a great place to meet other travellers and sit and have a drink/chat etc. The staff are friendly and the place is clean.
