A very nice hostel, chilled and incredibly refreshing when you usually have to deal with underqualified staff in some Chinese hostels.. The staff at Jade Emu is helpful and nice, ready to assist you with whatever problem you have. The rooms are also nice, as are the common areas.

Jade Emu and Jade Roo are owned by an Australian named Dave. This is good in many respects as you can buy good Aussie beers and stay in comfortable accommodation with western style dunnys. The food is good but a little pricey. Their new western food manager Kevin is sure to improve the tastes and the Chinese food section (yes they are separate for some reason) is good food and a bit cheaper. Staff there are friendly and the local bar flies are great fun with a wealth of local knowledge. It is not the cheapest by a long shot but the thursday night killer pool comp is open to all. Dave the owner is not above cheating though.

Fantastic accommodation - brand new place with all amenities you need. Staff were really kind and helpful - owner very hands-on and interested in guests welfare. Really good food - in fact, I have no negative comments to make and would definitely recommend it to other travellers.

This place is perfect. They have two guesthouses next to one another. Dave and his wife consider everything their guest might need or want. Everyone comes for a couple of days and ends up staying for a month. They have free laundry, one complimentary bike, pool table, free internet with FB and wifi on all floors in both locations. Centrally located, mountain side, between west gate and the wall.
