Walking all over the world
Our rucksacks have got a lot heavier than when we first started our adventures, with both our rucksacks weighing about 3kg more. This is just tipping them to the point of being a bit uncomfortable, with Amy's coming in at 13.5kg and Michael's at 12.7kg (despite Michael's bag being bigger and apparently containing half of Amy's stuff!). An early …
The Wonders Of The Blue Mountains.
This morning we checked out of what has been a very nice treat at the hotel and took a train up to the Blue Mountains where we are going to spend the next few days. Trying to find somewhere to sit was a bit of a challenge as people seemed to be taking up four seats for two of them. We headed up to the top level of the train and an Australian man …
Waterfalls, Lizards and Amazing Views.
I've woken up this morning so tired, hardly got any sleep because the dorm was absolutely freezing last night, somebody left both windows open so tonight I am going to be more prepared and have grabbed extra blankets just in case. After breakfast we packed the day bags and went back down to Echo Point. Along the cliff walk is a 3km track which …
Visiting Scenic World.
Yesterday turned out to be a lazy day of films and chilling out around the hostel because when we woke up it was so misty you couldn't see a thing and it didn't clear all day. This morning the blue skies and sunshine are back so we are going to spend the day at Scenic World, one of Katoomba's main visitor attractions. Perched on the side of the …

There was one last place we wanted to visit before leaving Katoomba and that was Wentworth Falls, two train stations down from the town we are staying in. Armed with a map and directions from our slightly strange hostel owner (last night he decided to give me a lecture on using the dryer before I was allowed to use it), we arrived at Wentworth to …

TravelPod Member ReviewsThe Flying Fox Backpackers Katoomba
After a day spent running around Sydney with my full backpack and a 5pm train to Katoomba it was amazing to arrive at the hostel and immediately be invited to share a dinner put on for free by the Ross, the owner of the hostel. Great atmosphere, very knowledgable and helpful staff. Perfect location to explore the blue mountains and plenty of extra blankets and duvets available to keep the cold at bay. $26 for a dorm bunk very reasonable. So glad I chose The Flying Fox
