down in the harbour

Arrived in Sydney yesterday, got a flight over from Alice Springs. Staying in a hostel in Kings Cross, not far from Hyde Park and Oxford St - where do they get these names from?!?! Kings Cross is a crazy place, made up mainly of strip clubs - that kept letting me and fi know that couple were invited as we walked past - and loads of bars. Today we headed off to see some sights. Walked down to the harbour bridge, had a walk along it and then got really good views from the pylon lookout for 3 qu...

It has everthing, bars, shops, clubs, views, weather, beaches...everything. Its easy to understand why so many brits come over and live here..(dont worry mum ill make sure i come back..lol) But all this comes at a cost...money. Its a real nice city and we're enjoyin it but its soooo expensive. So until we find jobs, i reckon we're gonna have to...

... and on to Oz!

Hello all my devoted and lovely friends and family. I'm so glad that you are all out there, somewhere, being you, doing something wonderful. I think about everyone and home lots. "there's no place like home" No, I'm not quite ready to tap together my little red? shoes and be taken back to Kansas... but home is a wonderful place, and friends and family are the best thing that you can have in the world. :-) Thank you all for being mine. Can you believe it? I'm in Australia now. A whole new coun...

I'm from the land Down Under

G'day Mates! Phuong and I arrived in Sydney Friday Oct 21st, 4 hours late due to plane issues but we were happy to have made it. Before they let us off the plane, the flight attendants went up and down the cabin spraying something into the overhead cabins to ensure no 'creatures' hitched a ride to Oz..I've never experienced that on a plane before but thought that was a fantastic thing because I hate bugs and flies etc..I should've clued in.. Immigration was easy enough and we dragged our carr...

Ninja vs Pirates and Hiking Trips

... park, clear blue water, just awesome! We sit down for some fish and chips, which the fish here is always just amazing, so fresh and just amazing, so always worth spending the money to eat! Well after eating, Bilai explains to me that one of the beaches i had previously mentioned was the unofficial nude beach of Sydney, which is kind of funny b/c its right off a big tourist spot, but whatevs! We begin the ride back towards his place which is like another 10 miles back into town, and on ...

We caught our flight to Sydney on time, and arrived just a couple of minutes past 1pm. We caught a shuttle bus that had no passengers in it, to take us directly to our hotel, the Ibis King St Wharf. Cost only $15AUD ...

... Australian government - abolish all these ridiculous laws against binge drinking. They don't work, they annoy all responsible drinkers everywhere and no matter what law you make, ways around them will be found because, like my own beloved Ireland, you are governing over a nation of total **** heads!!!! I make do with a water, having just eaten, and take in the atmosphere of this little enclave before embarking on the 1.5km Heritage walk along the cliffsides ...

blogging live from our last night in oz! v v : (

... underground tv room, the underground camping plots for those people with tents, the camp kitchen complete with a giant mosquito net so to stop the abundance of flies coming into the kitchen and spoiling everyone's day, and best of all, the thunder dunny! what appeared to have been cut from one hell of a huge baked bean can! i didn't ever use the dunny or loo, as there were others too, but apparently the echoing is incredible! no need to tell people if you went for a one or a two ...
