Where's the Pot of Gold?

Hold on to your hats... It's go time!

So first thing is first, my plane didn't crash into a fiery blaze.... so I guess that makes me 1 for 1??? So yes indeed, I just got into Dublin and after many hours of long laborious travel, I have two words.... THE FACE! May I say I thought Maybelline and Max Factor would have done me proud, but those hussies bailed on me as soon as we crossed the Atlantic. It's a terrible and unexpected loss!!! Jess and I actually took a couple pictures...

Emerald Isle........here I come!

Friday Mandy and I got up relatively early since we had to make a long trek down to the end of the metro and then on a bus to Ciampino airport to fly out for Dublin. The trip took roughly an hour and then we made our way through the departure lines and to our gate just in time to wait what seemed like forever to load a bus to take us to the airplane. We board the plane finally and realize (after asking some other Americans we had met in line) that you don't have seat assignments and just sit ...

Dublin.......day two

Work up around 10ish today. Didn't make it up in time to get the "traditional Irish breakfast" that the hostel offered. Oh well. Maybe tomorrow. Took a shower and got dressed. Waited on Mandy out in the "lobby" Waited................waited........... ..waited......................waited... ............. OK, I'm sending someone in. Asked the front desk if they could check on her in her room. She's just laying there fully dressed waiting on me to come get here. Damn, 2 hours wasted. Make tentat...

Dublin - Day 3: "History Dork"

... seating area, to our left, then turn and stop in the narrow, dead-end walkway directly behind me – between my chair and the wall, about a foot in back of me. He stood there for a minute while I grew more and more uncomfortable. I couldn’t think of any reason why this man should need to hover behind me, other than to potentially snatch my backpack, which was sitting on the floor. I turned around intending to give him the evil eye to let him know I was on to his game, and ...

May your blessings outnumber the shamrocks.

... by those guys I could have killed them. Especially when they woke us up again at 6 in the morning, leaving. We sleep with our passport holders under our pillows for safekeeping. The next day in Ireland was my favorite. We went on a bus tour, "Coast & Castle". It took us out of the city to see the Ireland I had always pictured, stone fences and miles of rolling green hills with rocky coastlines. We saw some of the smaller towns surrounding ...

First stop Ireland

... a great evening and drank LOTS of wine. Taxi back to the hostel ~ midnight and Danny for sure didn't tackle the top bunk tonight! Tuesday July 1 08. We wore our Canada T shirts and socks today and walked again downtown in Dublin and then picked up our rental car and drove towards Sligo. There ar Tim Horton's outlets in Ireland and so we enjoyed a TH coffee on Canada Day. On the way we stopped at the Hill of Tara and the Marble Arch caves. Our youth hostel in Sligo is out ...

Next morning my radar kicked in and I found the nearest Starbucks ;-) Yes...I have a serious caffiene problem. Knowing it is half the battle, right? next day we walked so much I thought my feet would explode! and the remnants fall off. Christchurch was amazing! Wish I could find USB access to show you. Drinks in Dublin

... got progressivly busier. The people were friendly and singing and it was a great time. It was probably the most lively pub that I have seen in a long time. At the end of the night we stumbled back to the hostel and encountered a old man who wanted us to immagrate to Ireland instead of the Blacks and Muslims. I quickly walked away as I could not disagee more with him. The next day we went on a walk to the Guinness Brewery for a tour. It was a ...

All The Best of Dublin In A Day

... our food. Still the food was worth the wait. The pasta, pizza, and soup we had were outstanding.

We wandered around the block where the restaurant was located, trying to find a pub for another pint of Guinness before we went back to the hotel. I was also trying to find where all the Irish went. Dublin didn't seem to have too many in it. I had met several Germans, French, English, and a whole bunch of Americans. In fact, I had thought for a while that I was in Boston ...
