Good backpackers'. A bit worn at the edges, but lovely staff and a good location a few minutes walk to the lake and the town.

Staff are excellent and the private room is incredibly cosy. They WILL talk you into a skydive. And you will love it.

We were so excited to be arriving into Queenstown and we were prepared for an action packed few days. We had money saved up especially to spend in Queenstown so our attitude for the next few days was to say No to nothing!

As we drove into the town we fell in love straight away, it was a lot more picturesque than we imagined. …

Queenstown is well known as being one of the most expensive cities in NZ and it certainly does not disappoint. But it is also exciting, compact and friendly too. In the evening street performers come out to entertain and the birds are brave enough to fly inches from your face when you eat a Ferg Burger (apparently the best burger place in NZ and I …

The plan is to visit the Skyline restaurant tonight. It involves travelling in the gondola, which looks from here to be near vertical in places. Should do my vertigo good! Up early, and off to town to buy fresh sourdough bread from the famous Fergs bakery.

In the kitchen drinking tea, I check the internet for the restaurant. Just as well …

Interesting breakfast of hard boiled eggs and crisps! That's all we had. But that gorgeous view down the lake.

All packed and ready to go by about 9.30. Chris and Pohiri arrived to pick us up. While they loaded the packs I went to pay. Nice chat with the lady, and warm thanks from me for rescuing us. She apologised for the state of the …
