Avenida 14 de Septiembre Granada, Nicaragua, 00-505-552-4028
Granada in NIC is very much like Antigua in Guatemala. its smaller though, has a historic center , some nightlife, good restaurants and cafe places. there is a volcano nearby as well. "Bearded monkey" hostel was a nice place to stay. I did not spend time in Managua, the capital de Nicaragua . However found an auto-gas station LPG-gas just out of town going towards Leon. (just passed the hill top on the right), to refill the Westys lpg gas tank.
Granada, Nicaragua alemanGranada here I come! Of course another couple of busses, but nothing compared to my Salvador - Nicaragua trip. Just a quick view on the city, and Granada appears definitely must wealthier than Leon with loads of colours and beautiful colonial buildings. I get to this Bearded Monkey hostel which had been recommended to me, and I'm happy about my choice: in 5 min I'm already speaking to 5 people there and planning the next day trip to go and visit Catarina as well as Massaya. The weather in Nic...
Granada, Nicaragua anne-soHowdy Its been a wild week since the last entry. With a couple of good nights that I have to get off my chest. On my last night in Leon I went to the flicks with the Irishman, 10000 BC, worst movie ever. The plot was just plain stupid but I was only there for the popcorn so all in all I had fun. The next day I caught 3 taxis and 2 buses to get to Granada, a celebrated colonial town that is stinking hot but very beautiful in the toruistic town centre. When I walked into my hostel, ĻThe bearded...
Granada, Nicaragua bradskey69Granada has been so great. Iīm just spending my 3rd night at the bearded monkey here in this lovely city. www.thebeardedmonkey.com if you would like to check out the area and what there is to do around here. The city has great nightlife and plenty of outdoor activities to keep you busy for well over a week. Today was so fun, a couple of us rented scooters for 24 hours(cost$18US) and we took them to Laguna de apoyo which is this picturesque lake about 30 min from granada. Had a great swim and ...
Granada, Nicaragua cmoneillWe woke up around 10am for the real start of the vacation. We had worked it out with Don Miguel for a ride to Granada. Since there was 6 of us, it would be quite difficult getting a cab to fit us all. So Don offered to throw us all in his truck for the hour plus long ride to Granada, for the nic sum of around 500 cords. More expensive than a single cab, but since we all wouldn't fit in one, it worked out for the best. Those initial days/hours in a new country don't lend themselves to pure com...
Granada, Nicaragua cutlip98So it was time to leave Hounduras, which is a pitty because we really liked it. The people were really sound, places were nice and we got loads of love from the sand flies on Utila. But onwards and downwards we head, From Tegucigalapa we decided to take a TICA bus (heigth of luxury bus!!} to cross the Hounduras / Nicaragua border. This bus was bring us to the capital city of Nicaragua, Managua. At the border we took in a feed from an old woman on the side of the road consisting of Rice, Pasta...
Granada, Nicaragua dan_connaughtonItīs Meridyth again... About a dozen or so mosquito bites on each appendage later, Mark and I have made it to Granada, Nicaragua - a small colonial town just an hour south of the capital Managua. Getting here was rather a long journey. We left Utila on the 6:20am ferry, having grabbed some chocolate cake for breakfast - thatīs all they had readily available at the restaurant so early in the morning. On the ferry, we ran into one of Markīs travel acquaintances, Andrew, who was also headed to N...
Granada, Nicaragua ej122493Written by Meridyth... So, after Mark woke me up at 6:30am (blah) and updated the travel blog, we decided to head over to Volcan Mombacho for a hike. After sitting for 2 days on a bus and eating carb-heavy rice & tortillas, I was anxious to get to do something active. Let's face it... a J-Lo ass would not flatter this short Korean's body. Lesson #1: Do your research for each activity the night before. We spent almost an hour trying to sort out how to get to the volcano. And after a very f...
Granada, Nicaragua ej122493We left the camp a week after Ostional and spent two days in San Jose (crack central!). We got all our instruments repaired and Tom got a new guitar. We even witnessed a classical concert in the Teatro Nacional. None of us were to into San Jose so we got out and we are now in Granada, spending a night at a beautiful hostel where the internet and coffee is free and Lisa is painting a mural. Talking of Lisa, I have finnaly forced her to write something: Hello there, i dont like writing blogs at...
