... a long bamboo tree lined avenue and finally,we were in the auditorium and onto comfortable bamboo seats. We were quite high up and had a view of...blackness. Cleverly the lights are on the audience so even straining to see the stage you couldnt see anything at all.

As the lights went down we were in pitch blackness. And then the lights come on at once and you cannot help but gasp as you see that the whole of the River Li and ...

I have been super conscious about suncream whilst away so I plastered myself in ...

... there with about 50 students in total. The kids looked very happy and happy to see us as they wouldn't have seen many Westerners (big people with big noses) in their lifetime! They acted a bit silly, as most kids would and the teachers were nowhere to be seen, it was their lunch break. The rooms were incredibly basic, but they did have the pictures of Lenin and Chairman Mao above the blackboard. Some children would end up going on to high school ...

... the rain as a positive, as there seemed to be less tourists and a mystical element with the rice fields seeming to appear from the mist. We had only a few hours to look around before packing back into the bus for the trip back to Yangshuo. The rain still hadn't let up the next day, which scuttled our plans of cycling the countryside and doing a few nearby walks. It was great though, to have a day off and relax with a movie and some good food nearby; to recharge our ...
