Today we were up early to have a driver take us to an area on the YuLong River where we had a relaxing morning floating down a river on a bamboo boat. On the boat we sat on secure lawn chairs with an umbrella to keep us out of the direct sun. We arrived early so it would not be too busy or too hot. As our ...

... I guess reputation is everything.
After that we were off for an early dinner (we left lots on the plate at this one, because we were still full from lunch), and then off to the airport for a 1 1/2 hour flight to Guilin (on which they served dinner! We walked up and down the busy street looking for souvenirs. The music was so loud, with each bar trying to out do its neighbor, that the volume became very uncomfortable. Found our souvenirs and headed home. Although we could hear the distant sound of music from our hotel rooms, we slept ...

The 7am alarm call felt very early, but we didn't dare be late for the Li River Cruise which left at 9.30am some 45 mins out of town. Unfortunately Florence hasn't been feeling 100% (swimming pool water the probable culprit) but as I type this (3 hours into the cruise) she seems to have perked up a bit. As we drove out of Guilin we passed through the centre of the city, and it gave a very ...
