Amazing staff who become your friends instantly and make you feel completely at home! Fun and comfortable atmosphere, and free beer for half an hour each night! Great location, right near the metro and conveniently between barrios bellavista and bellas artes/lastarria. Easily walkable to other key parts of the city as well. It could do with more heating as its a bit chilly on cold days. Will definitely stay there again.

It's 1:30am and I've been in Santiago, Chile for about 36 hours now. I've only just discovered my hostel has wifi. The past 2-3 days, I have spent 3 hours on a plane from Sydney to Auckland, 4 hours at that airport, 11 hours on a plane to Santiago, of which I slept for about 90 minutes. Then successfully navigated Chilean public transport from the …

Have checked in to a hostel in Santiago. Beer prices most pleasing. In this photo is a 945ml bottle of Escudo lager. 2000 Chilean pesos. That's about A$4 people!!

... to see a traditional Chilean play at the Theatre which was awesome but i had no idea what was going on the whole time but hey! It was a fiver!! It was a great way to finish my South American experience.

All in all Central and South America have been great. Just as my Spanish is started to get better....slowly...i am leaving! There is many thousands of ups and some downs along the way, but this definitely isn't the last that South America is going to be seeing of ...

    ... a good thing.

It was nice to just walk around the city as we had not really been able to do that in Rio for safety reasons and our morning was spent doing exactly that – we saw the city from a hill viewpoint and the main buildings. We then tried to go to the cinema as I have wanted to do something normal from home but unfortunately it had shut down and instead was home to some tramps!!
