Amazing staff who become your friends instantly and make you feel completely at home! Fun and comfortable atmosphere, and free beer for half an hour each night! Great location, right near the metro and conveniently between barrios bellavista and bellas artes/lastarria. Easily walkable to other key parts of the city as well. It could do with more heating as its a bit chilly on cold days. Will definitely stay there again.

Wednesday 4th June: Andy and I arrived in Santiago after an 11 hour flight. We met some amigos at our hostel (terraextremus) and went for a walk up to the San Cristobel lookout to find our bearings. Santiago is huuuuuge! Quite unbelievable! Made friends with our 10 room mates that evening, drunk at our hostel, then went to a party in a big theatre …

It's 1:30am and I've been in Santiago, Chile for about 36 hours now. I've only just discovered my hostel has wifi. The past 2-3 days, I have spent 3 hours on a plane from Sydney to Auckland, 4 hours at that airport, 11 hours on a plane to Santiago, of which I slept for about 90 minutes. Then successfully navigated Chilean public transport from the …

Have checked in to a hostel in Santiago. Beer prices most pleasing. In this photo is a 945ml bottle of Escudo lager. 2000 Chilean pesos. That's about A$4 people!!

... boarding call started, as the gates rose on the fast food counter. I ordered the double beef, bacon & cheese charbroiled burger meal. A real healthy breakfast. The things that I saw other passengers eating, made me feel sorry for the poor aeroplane toilet. I'm sure that even in today's day and age, toilets are not fitted to handle this punishment.I managed to keep the meal down and jumped on the plane. The flight to Santiago was smooth, with a quick stopover in Panama. I ...
