It's 1:30am and I've been in Santiago, Chile for about 36 hours now. I've only just discovered my hostel has wifi. The past 2-3 days, I have spent 3 hours on a plane from Sydney to Auckland, 4 hours at that airport, 11 hours on a plane to Santiago, of which I slept for about 90 minutes. Then successfully navigated Chilean public transport from the …
Have checked in to a hostel in Santiago. Beer prices most pleasing. In this photo is a 945ml bottle of Escudo lager. 2000 Chilean pesos. That's about A$4 people!!
Initial impressions (16-17 Sept)
Well, I have arrived in Santiago! I had a very comfortable non-stop 12hr Qantas flight to get here, with good food that just kept coming! Amazing staff who become your friends instantly and make you feel completely at home! Fun and comfortable atmosphere, and free beer for half an hour each night! Great location, right near the metro and conveniently between barrios bellavista and bellas artes/lastarria. Easily walkable to other key parts of the city as well. It could do with more heating as its a bit chilly on cold days. Will definitely stay there again.
