Well we are finally off on our travels. We have said 'farewells' to our children and their children (that was not easy!!). We had a Boonmas dinner on Sunday, 19th, a fabulous noisy early Christmas lunch with everyone present. We had a last supper with Rachel, Rich and Matilda on Monday, with Ian, Chloe and Archie on Tuesday and with Phil, Liz, Olivia, Martha and Ivy on Thursday. I then saw all of the grandchildren on Friday, even though there were lots of cuddles I am not sure ...

We got up early and had showers and packed up our final things. We left Sue and Jamie's as planned at 7am as we wanted to leave heaps of time to get the car sorted and returned and get checked in with all our bags. He was sick just the once but managed the flight pretty well and didn't have any drugs ...

... VERY inferior quality.

We then headed for Harvey Nichols. I was quite surprised, as this seemed very lower class, which was not what I was expecting. Even their toilets, which we headed for, were ordinary at best. Apparently Fortnum and Mason is the one to go to, but not this time. Our Oyster cards still have money on them, so we'll have to come back and can go then.

The changing of the guard was due to start, so we were ...

A Weekend in London

A travel blog entry by alexandrealynn on Jun 15, 2014

... then, we decided to find the hostel and drop off our things and then come back. I was starving at this point too. We dropped off our luggage in a luggage room--I was kind of weary leaving my stuff but I moved all my valuables into my backpack and carried them with me. I just left my clothes and a book in my suitcase. I had spotted a luggage store on our walk to the hostel, where I eventually bought luggage locks for my bag. They were so nice there that I screwed setting ...
