... we came back in time for dinner, the place was filling up and a Roma band was playing in the corner. Score! Deanne noticed a guy playing an instrument I'd never seen. "He's playing a Hacklrett!" (sp?) she exclaimed. A what? When she was an exchange student in Austria (when she was 16 going on 17.....) one of the guys in town played one of these things. It's like an open piano on it's side, like a harp, and the guy hits the strings with small hammers. ...
