The fun beach town of Tamarindo, Costa Rica
On our way up north towards Nicaragua, Vic and I decided to stop at the pacific beach town of Tamarindo. We found a great hostel called, Tamarindo Backpackers, which had a small pool, community kitchen and even A/C (even though they only turned it on 10pm to 8am).
We had a great time relaxing here and decided to stay for 4 nights! We spent …
"TamaGringo"
Tamagringo for all the expats living there
We crossed successfully on foot between Nicaragua and Costa Rica - I was so proud of us!! We managed not to get fleeced either as lots of locals try to make you pay any number of imaginary taxes. Fair play as they are only trying to make a bit of money, but we didn't succumb! From the border we only had a 10 minute wait before we jumped on a bus to …
Beach Beach Beach!
Day ¨2 & 3¨

The cabby spoke no english at all but writing down where you want to go seems to be the way to go.The cab ride through San Jose was very …
TamaGRINGO
Tamarindo was quite the distance from San Jose, but while you're abroad and travelling, nothing is ever too far to go to. The bus ride from San Jose was a good six hours. Friday after volunteering we caught the only bus out at around 330pm, which Mackenzie and I almost missed. So we arrived in Tamarindo Backpackers Hostel, and as soon as we entered …

The double room on the 2nd floor with AC cost me $25. Friendly staff.

The facilities were excellent, it was a little out of town but easy to walk to. However our first room attracted so many bugs, it was mosquito season and other bugs were loving the wood frames round the windows so we had to move rooms as I wouldn't have slept a wink. Our second room was pretty much bug free.
