Hi everyone! We're blogging you from our cozy little lobby at our hostel, Take A Nap. We had a very smooth journey over here. We arrived at YVR with LOTS time to spare. Andrew took advantage of the time by eating continously in prepartion for our long flight, as our itinerary stated that we would only be served refreshments. Our first plane was delayed about an hour, but we were still able to make our connection in Hong Kong easily. We've decided that Cathay Pacific blows Air Canada out of th...
Bangkok, Thailand andrewandlauraHi there! Just thought I'd write another update from Bangkok! We've been here for a few days now, and I think we're finally getting the hang of things. On our first day here we went to Wat Pho, also known as the temple of the reclining Buddha. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wat_Pho. It's really quite breathtaking, especially the feet which are decorated in images made of mother of pearl. The Buddha seems much too large for the building that its housed in though.. almost like it's still stuck in...
Bangkok, Thailand andrewandlauraDay 6 (cont'd) We left Sukhothai before 10am, with lunch and dinner in between, and we did not get to our hotel in Bangkok until 9pm. Quite a bit was spent in the notoriously heavy traffic as we approached Bangkok city itself. One of the guys declared, as we were passing by MBK mall in central Bangkok (Siam Square area), that one cannot say you have been to Bangkok unless you have stepped foot into MBK. It was said with such conviction and smugness that I couldn't help but shake my head ... I...
Bangkok, Thailand evanngDay 1 - 111108 - Singapore to Bangkok Flight out to Bangkok was supposed to be 6pm on the day, and I only packed in the morning itself, forcing myself to wake up 45 mins earlier then usual. I was just too sleepy the night before. Damn ... I'm getting lazy and too used to packing last minute for trips ... I hope I don't forget my passport one day ... *touch wood* Well ... no trips are complete without some complain about the airline. This trip is no exception. Tiger Airways decided to cancel m...

... this time by normal taxi, and this was no where near as exciting!
Saturday I just spent chilling out and looking around the Weekend Market. An ideal place to go if you want to buy knock off gear or if you're the sort of person who likes to fill a house up with ****. (I'm looking at you there Mother!) A few beers on the evening and trying, to no avail, to find a bar showing the England game and then back to bed ready for the next part of my adventure.

The visiting room is very clean, on one side sits the prisoner and the other the visitor, you are separated by a couple of feet and then there is bars and glass. You communicate by using a phone. I was happy to meet Micheal in person and to have a good chat with him, it was good to hear that despite the conditions in the prison he is doing fine. ( I did plan to visit a couple of English guys, but some various reasons I ...
... nice seeing those guys again. We had 2 bottles of Johnny Walker and at 2am I was drunk and took a taxi back to the hotel.

I met up with P, her friend, and my sister's friend to head out to Ko Kret. We grabbed a taxi, and then a boat across to the island. We walked around and looked at the pottery. Around 3pm we rented out a private boat to take us around the island in the river. About halfway around the island the driver ...
