Decent place, could be more sociable.

The facilities are fairly good as hostels go, and decent wi-fi which was free on ground and first floors. The problem for me is that it is too big, people spread out and don't talk to each other an awful lot. Not the most sociable place! Maybe the time of year didn't help. It was winter and not the busiest time, so perhaps it's better in this respect at other times.

As expected the YHA hostel was really good, the staff were helpful, cheap cafe for breakfast and bars for the evening, and a huge kitchen so you can cook for yourself. Comfy beds and nice showers, and a rooftop pool!

Expensive, but still one of the cheaper hostels in Sydney, it was cheaper for us to become members on the door.
Room was clean, toilets weren't far away and were clean, kitchen area is big enough for all your food!

It is fine if you need to get to Central Station easily, but if you are going to be staying for any other reason, the YHA on the Rocks is much nicer. This was okay though, just far from touristy things.

There was bass thumping coming through the floor all night. The room had an automatic key card and so did the bathroom, so you couldn't go anywhere without a pass. The kitchen was extremely well done.

I stayed here for a couple of nights in september 2009. Sydney central is quite central and a big YHA, but it still is a nice, quiet and clean place. I would stay there again if I got an opportunity to go back to Sydney.

I dozed most of the way from Melbourne, on the night bus. The bus arrived in Sydney at 10.30 on 19th, half an hour later than scheduled. After checking in, and a bit of post night bus rest, I headed off for a bit of sightseeing. I headed down George Street to The Rocks area. The walk is about 30-40 minutes, although I lost track stopping to look in …

We arrived late on Tuesday into Sydney airport, I have this weird feeling of coming home. Think it has something to do with arriving back in the same city twice. Can't quite believe its only been 2 months, it feels like I've been away months.

14th January A very quick flight from Melbourne to Sydney and a very easy train a whole two stops away delivered me safely to YHA central Sydney. 34 degrees was very welcomed after the weird weather patterns and rain in Melbourne.
