Sydney Again

So this day started out real early. I had to be up around 4 am in order to catch the Redline bus to the airport which was to pick me up about 5 blocks up. Once I got to the airport I had to wait another hour and a half to board the plane. The flight to Sydney was short and sweet. It was just enough time to get a little shut eye and rejuvenate myself for the day. Once into Sydney Brad, Whitney, and myself had breakfast at my hostel YHA Central which by the way was a really nice hostel to stay ...

Ten Days in Sydney

Wild kangaroos, bridge-climbing, a harbour cruise, surf camp and many more adventures awaited me in Sydney.

After a flight from Salt Lake City to San Francisco, 10 hours and many struggles in the San Francisco airport, a 13 hour flight to New Zealand, three hours in the Auckland airport and a three-hour flight to Sydney, I finally made it to Australia. Australia was my dream place. I think it was a sign when I was young, and my dad and I were driving down the highway in central Utah w...

Sydney - Our Third Visit, Part Two

The morning was spent with a leisurely fried breakfast at a nearby cafe, before moving onto the Sydney Central YHA, arguably the biggest and best hostel in the country. We were certainly pleased with our en suite room and the facilities available (the only difference from this and a hotel was the lack of tv in the room!). Principles In Evidence... This next part of the travelogue details separate afternoons that we spent that day, not for any sinister reasons, I assure you, but because of my ...

A warm welcome from Sydney

G'day mate! Goodbye New Zealand and G'day again to Australia! And boy, am I glad to be back. The flight from Christchurch was excellent. I am really starting to like flying. So much so that I am considering a career in the aviation industry. No, seriously. I LOVE flying. Which is kind of good because since December 2nd 2008 I have taken no less than 5 flights. And I already calculate that another 5 flights are due before my trip ends. So landing in Sydney the pilot tells us that it's blue ski...

Manly beach

Hey guys! ... So last time I left you I had arrived to a sunny and warm Sydney. I met a guy at the YHA who came with me for a bit of a sightseeing tour around Sydney. Karl was his name and he was an accountant in the UK, had quit his job to go travelling and had been in Melbourne in the 45 degree heat where he'd watched the tennis - he was an avid tennis player. Karl and I both wanted to see Manly so we caught the ferry accross to Manly which is where my ex boyfriend Pete's brother used to li...

Our Arrival

So this is the beginning!!! LONG, LONG, LONG plane ride!! Slept, ate, and watched movies for 31 one hours! Not the greates but hey look where it got me!! We arrived in Sydney in the early morning so we had lots of time to kill the jet leg and try and stay awake!! We dropped our stuff off at Sydney Central YHA and then grabbed a Starbucks and toured around a bit on foot! We went to a pub called Scubar for our first Aussie pints and some food! Our IEP meeting was the next morning which gave us ...

Sydney - Second time around

Arrived back in Sydney - I'm only here for 5 days. Nothing planned when I got here I'm just going with the flow. First day got my bearings which was easy and spent the day mooching round the shops (what else can you do?) The weather was a bit dull but at least it's been dry. Had a mooch in the Chinese Market, then came out of a different exit than the one I went in and yes, you've guessed it, I didn't know where I was!!! No change there. Eventually found my way to Darling Harbour and booked m...

Sydney

Sydney I AM DOWN UNDER!!!

Day 247 - Sydney

22.11 - Had to be up at the reasonably early time of 08.00 this morning to give me time to have some breakfast and have a shower. We were off by 09.00 to get my 10.20 flight only we found out upon my arrival at the airport that this was the wrong time. In actual fact, 1020 was my flight number and the flight didn't depart until 11.05 so everything worked out ok in the end luckily. Before I left, I said goodbye to Ben and had a photo with our '84 Ford Falcon. After the short flight across the ...

Day 248 - Pain For Nothing

20.13 - Today was a bit of a wasted day really. I had to get up early which I had no problems doing. My alarm was set for 08.00 but I was up and awake quite naturally before then which I was surprised and pleased about. Anyway, seen as I had a couple hours to kill, I made some phone calls to discuss my overdraft with Dad before checking my e-mails. When the time came, I checked out of the YHA and walked the couple of blocks down to Base. Although it wasn't that far away, my bags weighed a ton...
