Last Days in Sydney

I checked out at 10AM to move over to YHA Sydney Central, but I couldn’t check in there till 1PM, so I just lounged around and chatted with people in front of Railway. It was sad having to leave Railway because I’ve met so many awesome people there, but I still got couple more nights in Sydney before I really leave. Cam offered to help …

So I was back to Sydney with beautiful weather and an urge to be a beach bum. I was still on my own and wanted to do a few things in Sydney that we didn't have time to do before. I arrived into the city around noon and checked into my hostel which was conveniently located right next to the train station where you can go directly to the airport and …

Sydney city slicker - not sure I am anymore

We arrived late on Tuesday into Sydney airport, I have this weird feeling of coming home. Think it has something to do with arriving back in the same city twice. Can't quite believe its only been 2 months, it feels like I've been away months. Our hostel is easy to find as its near the main station. Slightly on the outskirts of the main city but a 5 …

Sydney Central

I've heard such mixed things about Sydney, but so far I'm really enjoying my stay. The hostel is so central and it was so easy to get here from the airport. If anything, it's been cheaper than Melbourne, and a bit easier to navigate! It also feels a bit less like an American city (maybe because of the iconic opera house?!) So far we have eaten in …

As expected the YHA hostel was really good, the staff were helpful, cheap cafe for breakfast and bars for the evening, and a huge kitchen so you can cook for yourself. Comfy beds and nice showers, and a rooftop pool!

Expensive, but still one of the cheaper hostels in Sydney, it was cheaper for us to become members on the door.
Room was clean, toilets weren't far away and were clean, kitchen area is big enough for all your food!

It is fine if you need to get to Central Station easily, but if you are going to be staying for any other reason, the YHA on the Rocks is much nicer. This was okay though, just far from touristy things.

There was bass thumping coming through the floor all night. The room had an automatic key card and so did the bathroom, so you couldn't go anywhere without a pass. The kitchen was extremely well done.

I stayed here for a couple of nights in september 2009. Sydney central is quite central and a big YHA, but it still is a nice, quiet and clean place. I would stay there again if I got an opportunity to go back to Sydney.
