The Rain and Surf of Sydney and New South Wales

We have left the family comforts in Western Australia for the fun and not so much sunshine of the East Coast. We arrived in Sydney at 7am after a horrible overnight flight. Our Hostel was fairly decent and in the notorious region of Kings Cross, but we were a few minutes walk away from the strip clubs and ladies of the night. WE only had 3 days to cram as much in and see what we could so we did a lot of walking to see the sights. We wondered around the Opera House which looks pretty spectacul...

Finally in the Land Down Under

G'day Mates! We've finally arrived in Sydney and surprisingly have all managed to avoid jet lag. It has been a busy first few days... Our first day was spent at the beautiful Bondi Beach where the white sand was like walking through flour. The evening consisted of a Darling Harbour boat cruise followed by a Full Moon Party at The Gaff. We were given white t-shirts to decorate with glow in the dark paints and a pair of scissors. To say the least the t-shirts didn't survive the night! We drank ...

Oz: The update

A few people have emailed to see what the craic is with the lack of updates so I have decided to bring you all right up to date with the current goings on. I landed in Sydney on the 9th of January after a long flight from Johannesburg, via Cape Town.  I didn't get much sleep on the flight due to this two elderly Indians beside me who keep roaring with laughter at the comedy channel on the flight.  Added to that was an obese lad in front of me who kept fidgeting incessantly in his seat. It was...

Sydney second time round

After yet another overnight bus journey (our last for a while), we arrived in Sydney Central at 7:30am for our second visit to the city. Having exhausted ourselves totally last time by walking everywhere, our first purchase was a travelpass allowing us unlimited bus, train and ferry trips for a week. We then set about getting our money's worth, Rachel refusing to walk anywhere until we had! Thankfully, our hostel was a lot nicer than last time with a fantastic roof terrace and nice dorms. It ...

The first step

After packing and organising my gear until 4am this morning, I had to wake up at 6:20 for my 9am flight to Sydney, which was the first leg of my big journey. As my flight to Buenos Aires leaves from sydney, I thought it would be fun to spend a night there before heading over.
I arrived at Sydney Airport and caught the train to Central station where the backpackers was only a short walk away. This place was amazing! 5 star style. It had enormous modern kitchens, lots of storage space, 8 s...

Day 126 Saturday 05/03/05 Brisbane - Sydney We caught a bus to the airport and flew with Qantas to Sydney. After waiting a while for the hostel's free minibus we took a while getting back through the city - the Mardi Gras was on and the parade had closed many streets causing loads of traffic problems. We dumped our bags, had a snack in a local cafe and headed down to Oxford Street to grab ourselves a watching space. We were there 2 hours early and still didn't get a front row space! The parad...

My final weeks of travelling NZ/OZ (pix to follow)

Hey All

Well its taken me over two weeks to yet again do an entry in my blog. As this is my last week and im due home in a few days this will be my last entry in this blog boo hoo :' (

The reason it has taken me so long to to do another entry is not because i have been busy but actually the complete opposite! On the last few days of our tour of NZ we managed to stop off at another brewery not for the tour but just for the cheap drink. We went to the Tui brewery which is a pretty...

Welcome to Sydney

9:45 I arrived in Sydney, after a fourteen hour ride (about two of them I might have passed out for, saddly these wern't two consecutive hours) over the pacific. After exiting the plane and stretching my leg and butt muscles I stood in the long line through customs and got through 'phase 1' without a hitch. After getting my passport stamped I was asked a few more questions from another customs officer and he wrote something on my card, thinking nothing of it I went to grab my bag from the bel...
