Well we arrived in Istanbul after leaving the ash cloud which was disrupting air travel around London behind us. The flight over was awesome took Easy Jet not to bad either
Arrived at the Sultan Hostel at 6 and died in the ass then got the traditional wake up call at 5am calling all the Muslims to prayer. This was a novelty for Bry as he …
Visited the Blue Mosque and the Grand Bizarre in the morning. Bought a pair of fake Prada shoes for winter - 100 tl, a hard haggle from 130 tl. Went for an afternoon walk to taksim square and along the water front to some palace with Mel & jarrod. Had a real good view of the Asian and European peninsulas of Istanbul. Visited the blue mosque at …
Arrived at the Istanbul bus station before the metro opened. Waited 45 min until it opened at 6 am. After the metro, tram and a 1km walk arrived at the hostel at 7am. However you could not help but laugh at the …
Istanbul is amazing. The building are gorgeous and the mosaics and tiles lovely. In Topkapi palace some of the sultans treasures are jaw-dropping. The topkapi dagger is stunning and the 86 carat Spoonmaker diamond is just ridiculous huge. Most of the important historical sights are tightly grouped together so that you can almost stumble from one …

Rooms were fine, shower head was broken. Breakfast was basic salad and bread. Free tea and coffee til 15:00 is nice. Staff are incredibly rude and unhelpful. Whenever asked for something it was as if I was interrupting their holiday, even if it was just for another beer. Very quick to tell u what u want is impossible and u'll have to book the expensive option with them. Very unhappy, figured it all out myself, just took twice as long. Location is perfect for sightseeing.
