CLICK HERE to see David's ASIA VACATION website I live in San Francisco and will be arriving Bangkok February 15. Vietnam requires that you get their visa in advance for a specific 30-day period (you can't get visa at the border like you can for Thailand, Laos, Cambodia). I have my Vietnam visa already for the month of March (March 1st-April 1st...

I was back in Bangkok for about 9 hours when I decided that it would be exhausting to stay in Bangkok for another 5 days. As much as I like Bangkok, I think it's this: It's exciting and has everything that you could ever need/want, there is no place to just relax and catch your breath for a while. Everyone is moving all around you, and soon you ...

Our 2 days 1 night in Bangkok

Hi! Holy cow we are in Bangkok safe and sound. The flights were fine except we really have no idea what day or time it is..........It is absolute insanity here!!!! But we are having a blast. Lets just say it is 800 degrees here (not kidding) plus 98% humidity. We took naps once we got settled in our guest house -SUK 11 and ended up waking up at ...

Leaving (fleeing?) Bangkok
Jan 23, 2005

It's first thing Sunday morning here, and I'm getting out of Bangkok and heading to Chiang Mai. Yesterday I had a bit of retail therapy at this amazing market - Chatuchak weekend market. It has 3000-5000 vendors there every Saturday and Sunday, and I probably only saw 200 and was out of money so I had to go home. You have to bargain here for jus...

Good morning! Well....i woke up in Hong Kong on Tuesday morning (17th) and packed up my things at a leisurely pace after a shower, a fruity breakfast and a peppermint tea lovingly prepared by the lovely Miss Butler! Super-duper. At about 10.30am, I decided to leave to go to the airport (in good time Mother.... You see? I'm not THAT disorganised!...

Entry 15 of a trip titled: THE JOURNEY WITHIN: Using unfamiliar destinations as a backdrop, I plan to diving deeper inside myself to explore undiscovered truths within.

Growing up in Israel, I remember shocking my high school teacher and classmates during our "Homeland" class, saying that our purpose in life is not to be attached to one piece of land but rather to travel and explore all corners of the earth. More than 20 years later, as I'm getting ready to embark on a six-month trip to SE Asia, I'm aware that the journey I'm truly interested in is inwards.

A pause in Bangkok
Nov 22, 2007

Sean left this morning to return to the USA after wonderful three weeks together. I miss him already. Earlier I found a Sugar Cane juice vendor that I'm sure he would have loved to try . . . :-( The good news is that he wants to rejoin me in a couple of months for a longer period than originally planned! Yippee!!! Bangkok's pollution finally got...
