... with an order of brie on bread). Can you believe it- me, the girl that doesn’t like to try new things when it comes to food, was convincing someone else to try something?! Thank you Europe for that!
After our wonderful dinner, we headed back to the hotel and asked where a fun place for a few drinks would be. They told us to go to the “Bermuda Triangle”, assuring us that they had not lost a guest yet. The only problem- it was a 20 minute walk (or ...
... Hofburg/Bibliotheek.
Floridsdorf, Vienna, Austria eyre... half the initial size (the military took over the back half), they are worth a walk. 2. Kunsthistorisches - one of the finest museums in Europe, if not the world and one of my personal favorites that I have visited ever (went once in 2003 and was always looking forward to going back). The building itself is just immaculate, Franz Joseph, in his quest to build the Ringstrasse spared no expense. Just going to see the building alone is worth the trip. They also house ...
Vienna, Vienna, Austria mjs81... or the time of day or our luck, but it was definitely the comfiest way we could possibly have traveled! By the time we got to Vienna it was dark, and we transitioned from thumbing to the tram system. Tim began to ask the kindly-looking lady behind us questions about Vienna. She spoke cornea-clear English with a UN accent. As it turned out, not only did she speak great English, she was on her way to a class on Arabic, she'd worked at the UN as a translator for ...
Vienna, Vienna, Austria stars... we climbed in the South Tower of Stephansdom to get a glimpse of the city views from above. Climbing almost 400 stairs left us a little breathless, but the view even more. We were lucky, as these were the only few hours of sun that we got during our whole stay and from the tower we could Vienna in all its splendor, with palaces, churches and monuments as far as the eyes can see. Also, we have managed to spot a few nice housing options, in ...
Vienna, Vienna, Austria gapostol... possibly one of the coolest church visits I have ever experienced because inside they have constructed a temporary lift(originally to restore the frescoes on the ceiling) that allows you to go all the way up into the cupola of the building and view the paintings on the ceiling within feet. The frescoes were absolutely stunning when viewed that close and I made sure to take several videos and pictures while we were up there. The lift, and then subsequent hike to the cupola, are not ...
Vienna, Vienna, Austria natalier... the orchestra was enormous, I did not think that it was typical to have a full orchestra in a pit for a show, but I guess it is. The vocalists were incredible. I was glad that I read a synopsis of the opera in English before I went to see it. Basically the story is that a young woman was born prematurely and her mother died in giving birth to her. She is scared of pretty much everything, especially death. She decides to become ...

Vienna, Austria lindalu... and is hoping to return to Oz in the next year or so and take that up again . . . Talking to Tom [from Mainz] on MSN last night he told me that the major hardware stores like Obi , Toom Baumarkt and Hornbach [exactly like Bunnings] have bike parts cheaper than the bike speciality stores and as it turns out I have an Obi just ten minutes ride from here . . . so I went up there and got a few must-haves for out on the road - including a spare tube and ...
Vienna, Austria craig560... more Absynthe. It wasn't that bad really. But Cara and i did make asses out of ourselves back at the bus because we were inspecting it for scratches for some insane reason. We did our own thing again for dinner tonight so we were down at the bar again enjoying happy hour. We went off to the pool again, this time pretty much everyone joined us because they'd missed out the night before. We all pretty much hung around in our bath robes again until we went off to bed.
