First stop... RIO!

A travel blog entry by sam_and_jacqui

Rio de Janeiro

The first stop on our trip was Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, a truly amazing city. A large high raised metropolis, set on a coastline that twists and turns creating bays and marinas with beautiful beaches and a horizon dotted with tropical islands. A backdrop of mountains covered in lush green jungle and the intimidating yet …

So after spending a couple of days in Rio it was becoming almost certain that i wouldnt be able to hang around for Carnival....well, unless I remortgage or sell my house in the space of a few days.

48 Hours in Rio

A travel blog entry by subrotta

After 24 hours of sitting almost upright, stopping at motor service stations where we hungrily pointed at unknown food offerings that looked like arancini balls and empanadas only to discover that the former were grey mince encased in gluey csssava mash then breaded and deep fried
and the former were mostly pastry, we were hungry and relieved …

We've only been here a day but so far so good...staff are all helpful and friendly. Rooms are basic but are good enough to get a good nights sleep. the bar on the roof is great, themed nights including pizza night and a bbq, there is good music on and atmosphere is fun full of travellers from all over the world! they also organise tours to all sightseeing places, so far we've only done the favela tour but it was well worth it for 65 reais and if you want a safe but interesting tour of the slums. we recommend it if you want a fun time and great way to meet other travellers.
