    Dinner at a restaurant with views over the Sas Bridge and control tower. Lights twinkling as the sun sets. Even at this late hour, the road is continually rising to let the shipping traffic through.

    I should mention that Paul had the local specialty, grilled eel, a massive amount of grilled eel. Did my bit by having a satay and loved every spicy peanutty mouthful.

    An early morning start for me to get to Roelof and Janny's place in Gorredijk. Then we were off to Urk, a fishing village which was once an island. The weather was great to sit outside and enjoy coffee and lunch and a stroll around the village.
    We returned to Gorredijk and then rode bicycles through the woods and countryside to find a lovely quiet place to enjoy afternoon tea, in the sunshine.

    ... room walls are covered in huge portraits of royals, and draped in red velvet curtains. There was a wedding reception in the next room across. We are unable to pay for anything. The first time we tried, Tim was quite sternly told 'no, and don't do that again!'. Another time Juliet quietly said 'no no it's an insult'. She is a little more down to earth and aware of regular people. Falkert has been overly hospitable and lovely to us, and quite clearly realizes that we're different. ...
