Walked into town and had my haircut. A great feeling to have it cut after so long. Then to the bakery to say hi to Eva. We went for a walk in the afternoon to the Makkum beach and a quiet beer. Then a nice evening and dinner in a very old restaurant by the canal. It's great to live so close to walk to the shops restaurants beach harbour in a town with plenty interesting of ...

Dinner at a restaurant with views over the Sas Bridge and control tower. Lights twinkling as the sun sets. Even at this late hour, the road is continually rising to let the shipping traffic through.

Perfect weather for a day trip to Leeuwarden. Saskia showed me around the old centre. We rode around and found the market, a Tea and Ceramic Museum, a nice place by the canal and in the sunshine to have lunch. Then onto a boat to cruise the canals and see the historic building ...

... She had the Frisian flag hanging from the balcony, and had made a little welcome sign for us. After a cup of coffee in their front room, which overlooked the boats in the canal, we had a look upstairs at family photos, then headed to our hotel to drop our bags and have dinner. So this hotel, apparently some Dutch queen used to live there, and now it's a hotel. Beautiful old building built in the 1700s (I think), our room is like a tiny apartment, I can't imagine how much it costs. ...
