Even though Cologne is a small town, it stores a multitude of great treasures.
Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany cieldolphinCologne is a city that makes a great homebase.
Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany cieldolphin Ik begin maar meteen met het goede nieuws: WE MADE IT OUT!!

Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany frewcandyI know I have already mentioned that Europe is ridiculously expensive but I just can't get over it. A two hour train ride from The Hague to Dusseldorf was going to cost us 60 euro.. that's $120!! For a TWO hour train ride!! We chose instead to catch a bus, which was a third of the price.. only problem was it took 6 hours! Although because of the bad traffic as we were doing loops around Holland it actually took 7!!! I won't even get in to the fact that we never bothered to find out the locati...
Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany myatesAmsterdam is a MUST SEE for everyone. There are historical sites, beautiful canals, lots of art galleries, TONS of beer, a HUGE PUMA STORE, plenty of internet cafes (but why would you need them, there is too much to do), great parks, a Hard Rock Café, a casino next door to the café, lots of gun gay people, Queen in concert, EASY tram system (you can get anywhere and everywhere), a very nice fashion district (more my style than Paris cause it has sportier sophisticated clothes), and tons more....
Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands nessamilanHello all, Thoughout this old world "boys will be boys", and the boys in Germany, and yours truly, are no different. I want to thank all, the ladies, staff, and other quests at Barnds Sauna, ie, Brothel, #28 Lichenberg. And, special thanks to Babsie and Monika, the time spent there rocked. Truly a great 8 hours of lounging, drinking, eating and a little shagging. If Barnd's is good enough for the German locals, It was more then good enough for me. After all, I came to Europe to experience all...
Bacharach, Germany skip2938So after an extended stay in Amsterdam visiting Dave and Knut, we´ve moved on to Cologne. It´s going to be an interesting week as Friday is meant to host a big party to celebrate the start of the carnivale season. Nothing as big and glamorous as the parade in july, but lots of beer drinking and funny rules for men and women at 11:11am on 11/11. Quite close to rememberance day... Amsterdam was fun. On Saturday, Renee, James, Mike, Silke, Naomi and Adam joined in for a bit of a big weekend. The...
Köln, Germany thebestrobAfter a 12 hour flight from Capetown to Frankfurt I then proceeded to hop on the ICE (very fast train). To Cologne. On my last day in Capteown I managed to put together all my travel plans. I think I really have to start planning things more than 24 hours in advance - especially when dealing with travel to other countries. So, what happened was that I found a really inexpensive flight on GermanWings from Cologne to St. Petersburg. When I looked on the map I found that Cologne was very close t...
Cologne, Germany vfrank
Just a quick note to have a little pin in my last (which was also my first) city of my excellent European trip :)
I had a really nice evening with Alwin and Stephanie (my original hosts in Europe), walking through the old town, having some nice hot red wine, and then some beers at a local brewery. Nice night, and then slept really well to go take my train to the airport in the morning...
I had a nice 10 hour flight from Dusseldorf to Fort Myers, Florida...

Düsseldorf, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany cariverga... One of the places we visited was the Cathedral, which I've seen plenty of times but we were very lucky the other day because it was actually open for the public to come and look at. Like most European cathedrals, it was just as amazing on the inside as it is from the outside. Dusseldorf is a very charming city, especially on winter nights when all the Christmas lights are up everywhere so Teri and I did a night time walk around the city. I was a little disappointed that she doesn't drink ...
Düsseldorf, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany torilusk... that if you point to any piece of furniture or home accessory in a German's possession, it's from Ikea.
Now I shall tell a little bit about my daily life in Germany. I'm now getting Tuesdays off as well as Fridays, bringing my days-worked-in-a-week total to three. It's a hard job, but someone has to do it. On Mondays I get to go in late, but also stay late because of the conversation class I teach. This is a new and exciting development for me, because I ...
