In Bruges

So, after some very stressful days in Paris, it was time to venture off to the quiet Belgium town of Bruge. This marks the beginning of our busabout leg of the trip, which is extremely exciting. We jumped onto the bus in Paris at 8am for our 5 hour bus ride to Bruges. The busabout crew play a movie whilst during the trip and for this leg they …

Brugge, the home of amazing food and beer!

We had our first trip on a Busabout bus and it wasn't bad at all! The seats were comfy, there were chargers for everyone’s electrical equipment and the Busabout guide on the bus was really friendly, a bit nervous but we thought it was her first time on the bus as well. I didn’t see much of the French countryside driving out of Paris, my …

After driving for almost 2hrs from Brussel, we arrived in this most enchanting town! I was very impressed that how gorgeous and quiet it was! Apart from the Markt and Burg (plaza), the rest part of town was really quiet! Wherever we went, every single corner was simply beauuutiful!!! All the shops looked just like high end boutiques. Every house …

We meet a few mates...

A travel blog entry by rebecca.taylor on Dec 21, 2013

Specifically Katie and her mates and George Michael.. but more to come on that later!

So we got up bright and early and headed into the centre of the city which was gorgeous and very European looking with old architecture and a large square in the middle.

It was pretty bloody freezing so we decided to climb the steeple at the bell …

The long road to Bruges...

A travel blog entry by rebecca.taylor on Dec 20, 2013

So Friday started off as normal as ever with work but then things started getting better when I was able to have a half day! Less work is always a good thing right?

I headed home to finish packing my bags and then I met Katie on the tube for the long trip out to Heathrowe (third time in a week that I had been to the airport..)

At …

Was like a student dorm, not enough toilets, wasn't very clean, no hair dryer... WIFI was not working well. Great location! Nice bar downstairs.

Overall we had very good service and the place is clean. The hostel is only a 10-minute walk away from the Markt and the Belushi's offers great-priced beer and a free breakfast to all those staying at the Bauhaus. The only downside was the organization: it's split up in three buildings, which at first made it difficult to find our room. We're pretty satisfied overall, though.

Little strange having shared bathrooms, but was clean and tidy and curtains around bed which was great for a bit of privacy.

The hostel is suitable for young backpackers; the walls were plastered with postcard-filled wallpaper and finding my room was like going through a maze. The hostel was cheap and since I like Bruges, I was thinking of spending another night but the shower didn't have hot water and it was so cold that my toe nails turned blue.
