Celebrating Thai new year in Chiang Mai

A travel blog entry by sabrina_berkamp

Hi everyone!

A couple of days ago I just updated my blog about my time in Cambodia and now I am already writing about the two weeks I spend in Thailand. I am trying to catch up on my blog, that's why...

Last time I mentioned crossing the border and watching the traffic change driving directions. After stamping into Thailand, I …

Back to Bangkok

A travel blog entry by ruth_and_emily

Our holiday within a holiday in Koh Chang was over, so we hitched a lift with Fem's parents in the luxury minivan back to Bangkok. We bid farewell at the airport and then continued on to Sukhumvit, to the Soi 1 Guesthouse. Our plan was to stay in Bangkok whilst we arranged our visas for India and booked our flights.

On arrival at the …

Bangkok, Thailand - Arriving into Suvarnabhumi International airport in Bangkok, I am greeted by another airport that HSBC has thrown up on!! Do you think they had an ATM at the airport? No! In Bangkok itself? It took a week to find! Shocking! Since I last went to Bangkok (2009) they have built a high speed train that takes you into the city! An …

After being awake for over 24 hours, it was extremely easy for us to sleep during our flight from London to Bangkok. We met a girl named Maike from Germany as we left the Heathrow Airport who was headed to Bangkok with no plan just like us so we figured we could look for some accommodation together. Upon arrival, we decided to skip the taxis and …

The (mis)adventures of Sukhumvit

Kolkata airport was fun. In the sense of it is the worst airport I've ever been in. But I really didn't mind it at all, it was just amusing. Everything was broken or breaking, but the people were nice so it wasn't an issue.

The good news of this adventure to the airport was that Jet Airways is good, and their customer service and check-in …

The owner is really helpful, will tell you good places to eat and visit etc Rooms are fine too, bunk beds- really comfy and there is air con and also a fan on the ceiling. Showers were very clean. Only thing that bothered me were the stairs!!
On the middle floor there is a communal lounge type thing with lots of fans and seats and sofas so you can chill out there on your computer or watch tv. Just a laid back atmosphere. Just don't bring a heavy suitcase!

Expect to pay more here than you would on Kao San Rd but also understand that the english speaking staff with fabulous recomendations will help your experience in Bangkok.

The BTS train station is at the beginning of the street, markets down the road, restaurants around the corner, and the local boat (cheap mode of transportation) is only a short walk away. We took their recommendations and loved all that they had to say when we accepted their suggestions.
