... around the park across the street on the way back. Also saw my first Bulgarian kitty, and a stray dog just lying in the middle of a sidewalk. Strays are apparently a big problem in this country.

Must figure out how to stay awake for another couple of hours at least, as it's only 8:00 p.m. here. If I go to bed now, I'll be up at 3:00. Crossing my fingers for a quiet night: my room is two floors above the hotel entrance and just across the hall from the elevator. ...

... br> PS - When you have a few hours to kill before train travel, you can always count on McDonalds to give you a safe place to hole up. New Zealand really needs to introduce the potato croquet rings and the McTurco pita pocket.

ADDENDUM: Some months later when editing this post, I realised that in two places I put "Belgian" rather than "Bulgarian". Rather than hide my stupidity I've highlighted it for all the world to see. Sorry Bulgaria. You deserve better.

Mom is always in-the-know of what is going on in the city from a cultural perspective, and she told me that the National Art Gallery is hosting a unique exhibit showcasing some of the most famous sculptures of Frenchman Auguste Rodin (1840-1917). In addition, just last week a new museum had been opened below the St. Sofia Basilica. Off we went on Tuesday to check out those two things.
