Bus Boat Bus down to stay by the Volcano
Tues 1st May cont.
After an hour and a half of bumpy dirt roads, we arrived at Lake Arenal where we transfered into a boat to cross the lake. There were a few other boats around and we ended up with the smallest but just as capable craft that was soon cutting it's way across the lake. Intertubing, horses, caving, and flaming shots
... but an experience. (UPDATE: As it turns out, the shot is Cafe Rica, a coffee flavor liquor - not cream based, thankfully - and flaming tequila). Not long after, Alberto bowed out and went home (he looked about ready to pass out from exhaustion), and we got a cab and headed home too.
Back at the hotel, Sara decided it was high time for a cigar, so we sat out on the patio. She smoked while I wrote. A perfect ending to yet another fabulous day in paradise!

Kicking Ass in the Wimpy Boat
... into groups each with 6 people, plus a guide, leaving us with a group of 5. We were thinking our boat seemed a little wimpy with the only two young, strong guys up front, Marge & Dick who although are very adventurous, are also pretty up there in age, in the midde and little ol' me with a hurt ankle in the back. Thankfully despite our appearance and disatvantages, we kicked some serious ass!

La Fortuna
... to get out and about and start seeing some of regions wildlife. We headed to Lava Rocks for drinks and watched a Costa Rican soccer game on TV before heading to Lava Lounge again for dinner - again very good. After dinner i spent time downloading photos and Ross had a few drinks in the hotel lobby.
We have had a very chilled out morning waiting to depart to San Jose for the last night of the tour. Looking forward to not being on tour but will miss some of the group!

Mountain Villages and....home
... reading our novels that I thought we need one of these for home! So I was happy I had my hammock, now I was ready to go home. Our last evening we decided to buy some tickets for a Hotspring Resort, where we could hangout at this beautiful resort and enjoy a buffet dinner, because we really needed to eat more food at this point!
