Everything was pretty clean and tidy.. My only complaint was that the towels and common areas smelled like moth balls. The staff was really friendly and helpful, and it's a good location.. It's about a 20 minute walk to Fremont Street, and a mile or so from the strip--although you have to take a bus down to the strip for $8 for 24 hour pass, unless you REALLY love walking. There's also free parking at the hostel and places to park near Fremont street for fairly cheap prices.

Still Bex (I get up very early in the morning and do a lot of blogging!)

Sometimes things aren't what you'd expect. I thought I would love the magic of LA but actually it was huge, not very friendly to backpackers, and more than a little rough around the edges. I wasn't sure if I'd like Las Vegas, with the gambling and debauchery, and yet …

I camped at Red Rock Canyon in Nevada last night. It's a really cool place, the rocks are indeed red and they make for quite the scenery. I did a couple awesome hikes today--some of my favorite from the trip so far. Though both were using a pretty liberal definition of the word "trail" in places.
The first was Turtlehead Peak, which had an …

Okay. So I didn't hit the jackpot. In fact, I didn't make any money. BUT-- I didn't lose much money, and I had a super time--which is what REALLY matters. Am I right?! Anyway, we checked out Fremont Street, which was pretty sweet. I didn't know what to expect, so I was really excited to see that the whole street is just a giant party. There were …

      Dam Canyons and Poker!

Hi everyone So, we left LA to begin our jaunt to nearby Vegas. We got there approx 4:30pm and it was already starting to get dark. I had been to Vegas before and stayed in The Luxor and David had previously stayed in Excaliburs so we decided to stay somewhere completely different, like Circus Circus. However, inside, the foyer was heaving and th...
