Cairns ist eine kleine Stadt umgeben von tropischen Waeldern. Diese Touristenstadt ist von globaler Beliebtheit, die Strassenschilder sind in drei bis vier Sprachen beschriftet. After walking round for abuot an hour tring to find somewhere to stay as the campervan stuck of damp! we finally found a place right central of Cairns. Spent a few days at the Lagoon which was lovely and then after a few boxes of wine we headed into the city! This is all i can remember up to as some silly place was giving free champs! Think i finished the last bottle of it and was sent home for being too drunk!

Today we went into a different part of town we hadn't seen before - we went to Cairns Central which is a massive shopping center there. I had a few days off work so decided to go for an adventure away from Kuranda for a few days. I booked a day trip to the Tablelands, just south of Cairns. It was a lovely day out, saw some gorgeous waterfalls and had guided walks in the rainforest. Life in Cairns has become a bit routine. Wake up and go for free internet at Peter Pans or Tribal Travel or other travel agents who like to lure in the backpackers with offers of free internet! Then head to the lagoon! Spend most of the day there sunbathing and having a dip if the temperature gets too hot - one day its been 34 degrees here! We went on a self guided walk through the rainforest which took us past some Aboriginal houses which were in a sorry site. They looked like overcrowded converted motels - we also saw some of the locals staggering drunk while others were just sitting around idly in groups - I guess there is high unemployment there.

... know if we`d get it back!! But when we got them back, we decided to
move on, and now were in Port Douglas (which is N of cairns) gping out
to the rainforest tomorrow! went swimming in the sea today, (in a
safety net becuase of the jellyfish and crocs) (reassuring!!) and the
water was 28degrees!! jealous? Enjoy the snow and cold whilst we are
