So, it's been a little while since my last post, and hopefully I haven't offended anyone too much with those political jokes. If so, I hope enough time has passed that you've forgotten about them or forgiven me. I'm in Adelaide in the state of South Australia, and my trip is now more than halfway over. I realize that I haven't made a post since ...
Arrived in Queensland at 4.30am, slept on airport floor until 9am, then realised there was a sofa type thing nearby, so moved there until we finally got picked up at 11am! International Hostel is in great location, right by the Lagoon (beach is **** here) and next door to a pub (with free meals incidentaly!) Checked in at Mid-day and all but one of the beds still had people sleeping in them.. Hangover city!!! Only problem with free meal, was that it had to be used by 6.45pm - resulting in us ...
Cairns, Australia mothmanOn the 14th may we left alice springs and boarded the Ghan train which would take us 24hrs to reach adelaide. Whilst on the train rachael managed to get sum strange spots/insect bites on her face (BAD TIMES) When we arrived at adelaide it was raining and felt like we were back in scotland. We went to a market and bought some smoked crocodile and some kangaroo meat. The crocodile meat was good and tasted like a cross between fish and chicken. Whilst in adeladide we did not do much as it rained...

... down on the Peninsula we cooked some excellent meals (Dean is as much into cooking as I am) and enjoyed matching them with the Clare Valley wines we had bought. Dean and I both became pretty good at shucking Oysters as they were readily available fresh from the sea at several of the towns. The Eyre Peninsula supplies 60% of the seafood to Australia and is apparently considered to be the Barossa Valley of seafood! During the entire trip we ...
Adelaide, South Australia, Australia amandajacaranda... tour stretched out to make a 3 day tour. There is way too much downtime, especially at the Wilderness Retreat, and I hated not having any transportation while I was there. Also, the pacing of this tour was odd. Sometimes you spent hours just sitting around, and other times they were rushing you to finish up and move on to something else. If you are going to Kangaroo Island, I would check into other tours besides the 3 day Sealink Tour.
Adelaide, South Australia, Australia pecten56... night a week, you can shop later. This is really different than the U.S., where you can shop even 24 hours at some places! So, after dinner, we walked around to explore the stores. But, many were closing even earlier than 9pm if they weren't busy. Too funny. We ended our night with some yummy ice cream. Well, Mitch once again had to try a shake...he had ...
