Honolulu runners-no rain, no rainbow

A travel blog entry by johnnym

After some struggling, I have finally managed to get garmin connect to accept my most recent uploads, so it now shows my recent runs as an hour plus on the 4th March, west from seaside avenue in Honolulu, an hour east from seaside avenue at 11.28 on 2nd March, and a coastal run in Auckland at 6.24 on 2nd March. Some day I will look at that and …

The calendar on my blog app is confused, trying to date this entry as 3rd March. I left Dunedin two days ago and had an overnight stay in Auckland. Yesterday I took off in the morning, flew through the day and landed 9 hours later, 9.15 in the evening the day before. Today is yesterday again. Exercise was simple. I got up at 6.15 to get a Sunday …

Well Aloha Hawaii!

A travel blog entry by laurs-and-matt

After a long flight, which was supposed to be 9 hours long but turned into 11 and a half hours as we sat on the runway for for over an hour before take off, we finally arrived in Hawaii! Then, in true American fashion, it took over an hour to get through passport control! We finally jumped in an airport shuttle to take us to our hostel in Waikiki. …

The main part of my trip starts in Mexico, but to get there I have the pleasure of visiting Hawaii for a week on the way. Flying into the sunrise over O'ahu (the island that Honolulu is on) was a pretty decent start to that week, and I got myself checked in to Seaside Hawaiian Hostel by mid morning. After getting …

Hā–Breath of Life

We found a steal of a deal on two tickets to New Zealand with Air New Zeland for $749 each. Pretty good price considering all the tickets are going for over a grand. The next best deal is on Dec 25, but who wants to go then? Only thing was, we had to make our way to Oahu leaving us only two days on this happening and exciting island. Dasha just …

This is an okay place. I've been to better and nicer hostels in other countries, but I was a poor college student so I didn't mind it as much. It is in a great location and Waikiki beach is literally 5 min walk. Only thing I did not like about it is that it's old and is in need of major remodeling.
