Day 10

An 8:20 start this morning with the weather forecast not looking too good.

We wound our way through the city to the outskirts with the sun shining and Saturday morning traffic not too heavy. We had 350km to cover today to our destination of Stary Smikovec, Slovakia.

Before we set off Thomas one of the Americans gave us a puzzle to think about along the way.

Well, apparently I managed to "pull" one of the violinists, as he repetedly turned and winked at me through the window, after each song...
For food, I opted for a duck breast with a cranberry and red wine sauce, and roasted apples, with chips. The duck ...

... already a decent change from cities and trains... ...but don't compare to the reward for a two-hour trek: two lakes, separated by a steep and icy 50m bank, are set amid the snow-dusted mountains. The ice has melted in Morskie Oko but higher up at Czary Staw a thin layer still remains. It is a spectacular place. You are spared my woeful attempts at trying to fit any ...
