Sandakan Harbour Square Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia, 90000
Las vistas entre Kota Kinabalu y Sandakan eran espectaculares. Vimos mucha selva virgen, entre tinieblas, algunas plantaciones, casitas junto a la carretera... Lastima que el autobus no hiciera paradas (solo una para usar el wc).
Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia cagonu8th to 10th Oct 2007 Well a lot has happened in the past few days. On Monday (8th), I decided to do a bit of sightseeing around Kota Kinabalu. I walked up to Signal Hill for a great view of the city. I had to take a local bus to Inanam to book my bus ticket to Sandakan on Wednesday - the only ticket left was for the 0700 bus. Got back to KK around 2pm and we had the most tremendous thunderstorm, the thunder and lightning were right above my head and the rain was chucking it down so hard that ...
Sandakan, Malaysia duncanmHiya, We arrived at Kota Kinabalu, at the west side of Sabah, Borneo 2 days ago. Theres a really big mountain there called Mount Kinabalu which you can climb. We realised that really we didn't have enough time to do this and heard that at the east side of Borneo you can see orangutans, as well as Proboscis monkeys. We also realized that there is also some of the worlds best dive sites there too. We had no idea how big Borneo was and on enquiring realized that we'd have to book a flight to get...
Sandakan, Malaysia nikkivthomsonHey guys, hope you're all good! We've spent the past five days or so in beautiful Borneo and wanted to give you an update on our adventures! We started off our time here staying at the homely Tropicana Lodge hostel in the capital Kota Kinabalu. When the crazy owner Vincent picked us up from the airport reeking of booze we knew we were in for an interesting time! And we definitely had it... The hostel was right on the edge of town backing onto the proper jungle and so we were greeted by amazin...
Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia sar-and-sag19th Dec Getting to Sandakan by bus is not straight forward there is only one bus per day which goes at 7.30am and you can't buy the tickets in advance so we were there 40mins ahead of schedule and started the 6 hour journey. Sandakan was a nice town, once a town with the greatest number of millionaires in the world the town has somewhat delapidated but still keeps alot of its charm. We checked into the Sandakan backpackers and we were the only guests on the first night but we had the astro c...

... declined to partake in this as it is scary enough during the day, but there were quite a few takers, including one lad who went out in the night into the jungle in shorts and flip flops. Have you guessed what happened yet? Yes he got stung by a poisonous centipede. We didn't see him or his leg but apparently he was quoted as saying he was glad he still woke up the following morning. I leave you to draw your own conclusions as to whether this fellow was sensible.
Sukau, Sabah, Malaysia jason_m_smith... was dampened (quite literally) by another torrential downpour. The powder white sands on arrival didn’t look as we had imagined them. Trawling the beach front for accommodation whislt shelley stayed undercover from the deluge and secured the bags I found a cheap place to stay at Symphony Village in a little A frame hut for 35 MYR. The hut we stayed in was right on the beach. Absolutely knackered we crashed out for the afternoon hoping the storms would soon go away.
... figuring out how to loose. We made plans for the next day and headed off to bed. And it rained. 05/08/09 We were up before the chickens this morning and had the opportunity to see the Gibbon in a tree behind the guest house. The other group staying in the guest house was from the Discovery Channel and they had been looking for the Gibbons all the day before and here they were in their backyard. Unfortunately they had gotten up extremely early that morning and went in search of ...
Sukau, Sabah, Malaysia savageharmony... and really treat them like their mothers. By the time they're visiting the feeding platforms they're nearly ready to go it alone & many just swing off into the jungle from Sepilok, never to be seen again. This is why the keeper found it hard to answer these questions! In the end by not talking in massive American voices about how good our zooms were, by not having children screeching and by just sitting quietly they came back ...
Sepilok, Malaysia dolly_would...... breath to see them appear - it was great - it felt a bit like jurassic park but not so scary. The rehabilitation workers basically go up to the feeding platform with some buckets of food and sit with the orangutans while they eat - they are at eye level about ten metres away. They eat bananas and milk and other fruits and just watching them eat and interact is mesmerising. They are so human like as well - one of the mums was playing with her baby ...
