I am soo tempted to keep this little gem a secret but I think the whole world needs to know what an incredible hostel this is. From the moment I arrived I had people helping me with my bags, offering me wine and basically a new instantaneous set of friends. Did I mention its centrally located. BOOK YOUR STAY NOW:)

    Friendly and well located

A hostel with great atmosphere, super-friendly and helpuful staff, a lot of tips and advice and located in the city center on the edge of China town. The only cons are limited space with no other furniture than a bunk-bed. There are no shelfs or anything, just a big locker under the bed. The traffic also gets a bit loud in the morning and does not let you sleep very long, but that is the price for living in the city center, I guess. The dorms have no doors which limits your privacy a little, but hey, they are dorms, so I did not mind. Overall a very nice experience.

Due to the few beers the night before we were the last ones up in our mixed dorm of 8 people. Today was the Alcatraz tour. Breakfast was Frosties which we had bought the first night from Dave's around the corner. We made packed lunch to save more pennies, salami, lettuce and cream cheese for this Milnes, just cream cheese and salad for the other …

We got a great deal for bike hire thanks to the hostel. So we hired bikes for 3 days. The lady in the shop suggested some "Rowts", Jane was baffled and had to ask me what she meant. We rode West through the Golden Gate park to the beach and our first view of the Pacific Ocean. It looked just like any other sea. The only difference is that I know I …

Breakfast at the Super 8 was in a room in the corner of the still/already busy casino at 9am. Waffles, toast and cereal were on the menu. Boy I miss the full English. We flew Virgin America to San Fran and the flight safety video is amazing, check it out ...

    All aboard in San Franciso!

Hi everone, I have spent the last couple of days in San Francisco. It is fun - there is lots of things to do and see here. First I explored the Hyde Street Pier in San Francisco where they have lots of historic, refurbished ships. You can go aboard three of them and so I did. The boat you see is in the first picture is the Balclutha. This majest...

    Across the Date Line

I had an hour or two at the airport before boarding the flight in Taipei, and used it not for duty-free buying (because I was taking an onward flight from San Francisco) but for checking out the lounge. While not as plush as some, it was a pleasant oasis, not too far from the boarding gate, and I was able to check my email and have a light meal....
