Wine, wine and more wine!
Firmly into the swing of Argentina we set off on a very scenic bus ride to Cafayate. We bagsied the front seat of the bus (not unlike small children) so that we could get the best of the views. It was well worth it as there were vineyards, a beautiful canyon and quite a few cacti along the way.
We soon got chatting to a barrister from …
A dog day afternoon
This lovely little quaint wine yard town had a gorgeous atmosphere to it. Not a lot to do so we only spent one night. The town is situated at the foothills of the Andes. There are many vineyards, or bogeta as they are called here, dotted about at the foothills and the best way to explore these bogetas is by renting a bike. We had already planned to …
Cafayate – wine, cheese and sun...
Cafayate is four hours south of Salta and so a relatively short bus journey for us but with spectacular scenery. To get to Cafayate you have to pass through the Quebrada de los Conchos (Gorge of Shells) which is a large gorge with unusual rock formations caused by a big earthquake hundreds of years ago. It's called gorge of the shells as shells can …

In order to avoid protestors blocking the main road there we spent half of the six hour journey driving through waste land tracks strewn with massive amounts of rubbish, stray pigs and pot holes. This journey was a little …
Hola Argentina

Our time in Samaipata continued to be brilliant, with a day trip to La Pajcha waterfall last Thursday. We spent the morning relaxing …

TravelPod Member ReviewsRusty-k Hostal Cafayate
We found Rusty K by reccomendation after staying in a marginal hostel up north. This place is all that was decribed: Decent Beds, wonderful atmosphere, proper bathrooms, and helpful staff.
The outside courtyard is delighful, as is the breakfast service. The place feels more like a bread and breakfast than a hostal and we would be suprised if you could find a better option for the price. During our stay, it was relatively quiet and relaxing. Sadly, we are only in Cafayate for a few days, but this would definitely be a great spot to chill out for a week or so.
