Spent the last two days in Singapore not doing terribly much. Spent the first day getting a haircut in Chinatown (S$15) before walking around the shopping malls near Dhoby Gaut station. In the evening I caught up with Kannan to watch the Germany v Argentina World Cup game at a place called Chijmes. It was a pretty cool place, actually a church …

Living in Beijing it's quite easy to forget what an historic tourist spot it actually is. You could spend a fortnight there and not see everything that's on offer. Patrick's arrival in Beijing was a great reminder of what's on offer in the capital, and was the perfect antidote to Beijing Rage (a common affliction of foreign residents in China as a …

When I finally got up, I remembered I had jobs to do! Believe me, not so exciting...picking up ingredients for a fry up for my last supper in Australia was ******* brilliant though! 2 hash browns, 2 sausages (Aussies aren't very good at sausages unfortunately), 2 huge strips of bacon (now bacon they can do!), mushrooms and this fantastic bread... < …

So time to explore Singapore some more! Haha that went well. Chilled around at the hostel, researching Malaysia and chatting to people, met Alison who I'm now travelling with while she was eating some strange local concoction.

A big group of us went for satay dinner with Ali once again. We ended up on tables in the middle of a road, big …

The Adventure Begins

The end of Australia was a rush, it was always going to be! The last week/end was amazing, even though I was still working and I have a few people to thank that for. I am really grateful for the huge send off and you never know I might be back. I miss it like crazy already!!

I've spent 4 days in Singapore chilling out before the big trip, …

So friendly, so clean and comfortable, so easy to find, such a great atmosphere! We went for dinner with Ali twice, he loves taking people out for food and he knows all the best places :-D not to mention a plethora of games, dvds, free internets and all day breakfast if you need to relax!

When I go back to Singapore I'm definitely staying here

Great communical facilities, easy to meet pl, activities at night time, 24hr reception, great location, free computers, free wifi, very helpful staff including for random things like a cobbler when my hiking boots fell apart, free brekkie, always hot water.

Bad: 26 bed dorm however it is surprisingly cool and spacious so isn't as bad as it seems

The new Rucksack Inn building just a couple places up from the original... All new facilities and very clean. Stayed in a private 4 person dorm which had own aircon and tv, with comfortable enough bunk beds. For a backpackers i would give it top marks and would stay again! Staff are friendly and helpful :)
