My program arranged for a shuttle for me at 8:15am, so I could make my 10:45 flight from Madrid to Rotterdam on Transavia Airlines. I was excited to see this city, knowing so little about it but getting to have a tour from Simon before we traveled to Amsterdam, but Transavia had another idea in mind for me.

The trip started out great, I had purchased my flight ahead of time for only 35 Euros! (the total came out to 65 because I had to pay an online booking ...

Forgive me if I've explained this before, but my route across Europe consists of zig-zagging across the continent in order to see as many of the small countries as possible and there are four 'corners' to turn before I finally get back to the UK. The first was Hungary, completing the first jaunt east before turning north-west and trekking ...

Halfway home

Hello from Amsterdam. Yep, I'm back in Europe, which puts me a bit more than halfway home.

I made it here this morning after a relatively painless overnight flight from Cape Town. I actually managed to get a decent night's sleep on the plane, and the eleven hours passed quickly. For once, my screaming baby magnet was taking a break; the only baby in my section cried at takeoff and landing ...
