Hey-o, Yesterday Stoyan and I enjoyed the summer weather in Barcelona but got soooo lost in the city since it's all divided in small blocks called "carrer" (get it? squares) but it's pronounced - cay-ay - anyways, after a lengthy frustration, we decided to rent bikes and ride around the city in order to get to all the destinations on our maps. Soooooo fun! They're these orange cruiser type bikes and it's INSANE riding on these narrow, jam-packed streets. There are no lines on the streets and ...
Rome, Lazio, Italy sunmoonstarzWaiting for Ben to arrive...he's not here yet and it's 12:00... Hot day today in Rome, but I froze last night in bed. I'm annoyed with the people I shared a room with last night. They are a bunch of girls from Spain, although nice, they're noisy and inconsiderate in the morning. Because I'm staying with Ben for the next few days, they've moved me to another room which seems more appropriate. Ben and I will share a bunk and there are 3 other older people in our room...and by older, I mean, my ...

... records of the burials lost. It was common during the centuries, as it is today, to unearth spectacular intact Greek and Roman artifacts, like the Laocoon sculpture, commissioned and transported to Rome from Rhodes in the 1st century BC, but lost for centuries under Nero’s Golden House. Its discovery in 1506 became a sensation involving Pope Julius II ("Il Papa Terrible" for his bad temperament), Michaelangelo, Raphael ...

With that settled, we headed across the street to Palatine Hill and the Forums of the different Roman emperors over the years. The large plot of land was mostly ruins, with the most distinctive structures being those that contained columns. The Circus Maximum across the street from the Hill, where the largest exhibitions and shows ad once played out, was also nothing more than a long grass field which actually looked perfect for outdoor summer concerts.
Another ...
... This was the place where the Roman emperors put on "the games". where people could watch the gladiators fight. Not exactly my cup of tea but here I was, walking the same grounds. It was sad to think of transpired here including all the animals that were thrown in for entertainment.
Rome, Lazio, Italy katcapduff... Everyone else was holding out for the "evening service" at 18:00, to see what kind of savory goodies they would bring out. We weren't disappointed. The meats, cheeses, desserts and bierra azzuri were delightful. I only made it through the first half of the match, joining everyone else back in the room as the second half started. I was passed out cold before ten minutes had passed. The bed was on the hard side, but comfortable and sleep-inducing all the same.
Rome, Lazio, Italy belisarius... Dario and Giada, and their cat and dog. Ella and Niamh of course love it and the first thing Ella asked to do was to learn Italian so that she could communicate better with Giada who is 7.She started last week and I have to say has already learned more Italian in a couple of lessons than she has learned German in a year at school. She has also started ballet so she can keep in contact with other children her age and get an idea of how things are ...
Rome, Italy cathsnel... your picture with. They were big greasy dudes with long hair. When a girl would get a picture taken, he would kiss her at the end, but he would stick his toung down her throat every time. I'm sure some of the women liked to be man handled by a tall, sweaty, Italian guy, but some didn't like it for sure. I really didn't mind it that much, he was gentle with me....just kidding, he was rough! We got in the massive line at the Collisum and waited to buy our &euro ...
Rome, Italy jaredtenThe last time we were in Rome we felt we did not have enough time to see everything we wanted so we made it a point to return and see more of the city. This time we go outside the city center to see the catacombs and the Ancient Appian Way. While hiking the Appian Way we actually walk from the city center ...
Rome, Italy dfdippel... shared one margherita and one marinara. They only sell whole pizzas at Pizzera da Michele. However, even though one pizza is about 10 inches in diameter, it is not dense so one pizza is just enough for an adult with an average appetite. For two pizzas and two cokes, the bill came to about 8 Euro. What a steal for the best pizza I have ever eaten. Back in Rome, for our last night on this wondrous trip, John and I visited the Spanish Steps and the Trevi ...
