Fray Luis Beltran 116 Puerto Iguazu, Province of Misiones, Litoral, Argentina, 3370
24th Mar - 4th April Days 55 - 66 Argentina Our entry point to South America was Sao Paulo, a metropolis of a city with a skyline that just keeps on going, it`s dauntingly big. 13m people are spread out over this financial hub of Brazil, and after wandering the streets for a day, we were ready to leave the city behind. For me, I wouldn´t choose to visit this city but it served it´s purpose as a transport gateway. Our first stop was the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Iguazu Falls. The falls span ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina chrissmith300 So we arrived in Puerto Iguazu, the town on the Argentinian side of Iguazu Falls at around 1pm, fully recovered from our hangovers! We found a hostel to stay in and then made our way to the Hito Tres Fronteras - a vantage point over the Rio Iguazu and Rio Parana, from which you can see both Brazil and Paraguay.
The Argentinian side of the falls is better than the Brazilean, as more of the waterfalls are on the Argentinian side and you can get really close to them, whereas in Brazil yo...
So I arrived in Argentina, got money out and promptly lost my debit card, WAHEY! Realised just cas I bought my tickets to Iguazu Falls, so I just had to grin and bare it through the day. Unfortunately in my panic I forgot to take new batteries to the falls, so only managed a few photos before the camera went kaput, so switched to my waterproof disposable camera (someone at the Rio hostel gave me their spare for free!). Iguazu Falls on this side is a LOT nicer. The park takes a day to walk aro...
Puerto Iguazu, Litoral, Argentina paukAfter our night out, we had the luxury of sleeping in for once! We didn't have to catch a flight to Iguazu Falls until 1:00, so we had breakfast, checked the internet, then arranged transport to take us to the airport and off to Iguazu. The Iguazu Falls straddle the border of Argentina and Brazil. It's Puerto Iguazu on the Argentinean side, and Foz de Iguaçu on the Brazil side. It is surrounded by subtropical rainforest loaded with plants, birds, insects, mammals and reptiles Most guide books...
Iguazu Falls, Argentina rgreenwell630We flew in to Puerto Iguazu on a flight we had booked before we left the UK, although we might have taken the 24 hour bus if we´d have known how good the buses are in Argentina! As in Iquitos, we saw the vast forest laid out beneath us as we flew in - except this time it was a pleasant surprise as we hadn´t realised it was sub-tropical rainforest before we arrived, we just knew about the waterfalls! On our first day we wandered around the town (very hot and humid) and walked to the point wher...
Puerto Iguazu, Litoral, Argentina tomandfoyAfter arriving at the bus/truck stop in Colon at 10pm for our night bus it eventually turned up at half eleven but I suppose standing at the side of the road getting ate by mossies in the moonlight could be considered romantic. The bus itself was actually great and we slept soundly for almost the whole 13 hour journey on the fully reclinable seats. We were relieved to find that the heat in Puerto Iguassu wasn´t as intense as the Amazon jungle but not sure we´d have survived without the air-co...
Puerto Iguazu, Argentina tonyandsara_rtw
... that overnight, the water had risen to a level that was too high for any of the boats to operate. So we walked along the pathway to view the falls from the Argentina side. I’m glad that we got to go on both sides since they had closed part of the Argentina side. However, in the afternoon, they opened up the boat rides again. We did the ride through the jungle and the boat ride, however, the ride through the jungle could definitely have been ...
Iguazu Falls, Argentina worldtraveler2... crawl and allowed us to take some pictures. We were then all told to make sure cameras, shoes etc were safely put away in the waterproof bags, before the driver rammed the throttle and absolutely gunned the boat towards the waterfalls. He slowed as we got right next to the falling water, but we all got absolutely drenched - it was like having a cold shower. You also couldn`t see as the spray was so fierce. I wasn`t prepared for how wet we`d get - while the three other guys all ...
Puerto Iguazu, Argentina alastair6... reception floor to talk to us - taking more chicanes and turns to get there than you could imagine. She has packed lightly for the trip but is managing to think that the most important item is a pair of stilettos. Then comes the tour leader - holy jaysus. He looks like a hobbit. He is from the states but is used to working in Mexico. Never been to South America before - so its time to have more fun with the yanks I think. Anita, Steph and I ...
Foz de Iguacu, State of Parana, Brazil codownsean... tree above us, we were like children taking pictures. A beautiful bird to actually see for real and not just on the Guinness adds ha.
The park is so big you are given a map to show you the trails/circuits in which to take. The Green trail through the jungle gives you the chance to see birds, butterflies and other species, as well as marsh area. There are a series of walkways strategically designed to allow amazing views and bring you into close contact with the ...
