From December 1470 onwards, a pig market was held at this site; at this time it was known as Mercat Bornet. Later, until 1794, it was known simply as Mercat de la Palla, or straw market. Saturday .. hooray blue skies today! We are very happy.

Friday afternoon Jim and I visited Barcelona Gothic cathedral, it was quite spectacular. Unfortunately when we started back to the hotel there was a massive thunderstorm and even with a brolly and coats arrived back soaked.
Today caught the hop on bus on a different route, arriving half way up Montjuic where we caught the cable car down ...

... of stained glass made beautiful colors all over the walls. The church was just dedicated as a basilica in 2010, so it is new as a functioning church. Gaudi is buried in the crypt below the church.
