... at 9 or so, but we didn't get the message until already after 9. Heather let them know we would not be able to meet them until after 11 at least (not an issue on Barcelona time), but we had not heard back. Not sure what to do, we decide to return to our hotel and find food. We are tired but if they still want to go out and we feel like it, we will just come back. Of course when we get to our hotel, there is a message and they do want to go out... We are tired but willing ...

Well I will admit that I was a little nervous about Italy - didn't love it on our last trip in 2000... But I am old, wiser, more adventurous eater now... And taking a slower pace, and more open to the city experience! Our first (half) day in Roma was amazing! We were super sad to leave the boat this morning,... The bus transfer from the airport into Plaza de Catalunya, Barcelona was efficient and cheap. I managed to find my accomodation, Hostal Operaramblas, very easily. Literally a stones throw off Las Rambla.

The next urgent quest was to find a Vodafone outlet to get a Spanish Sim csrd for my phone. It would appear that there had been a run on Nano Sim cards for iPhones as 2 ...

... of sneaking one in because security was everywhere.

We learned that Picasso would frequent the 4 Gats (cats) Cafe to meet with his artsy friends and discuss artsy things over a drink or two so we made sure to go there. As I sipped my wine I thought about what those walls and windows witnessed and felt rather artsy myself. Later I found out the current 4 Gats is a touristy incarnation but I still felt artsy nonetheless.
