Good Morning Vietnam ! (Very original)

Hello !

Finally leaving the not-so-cheap Singapore and arriving in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. The boys pictured Vietnam to be filled with lots of huts, banana leaves and dirt while I pictured it to be dusty and .. dusty. We arrived at the airport and after getting our visas, which took about 45minutes, we swapped our currencies and we were …

The journey to Saigon

A travel blog entry by anja.

So on Sunday morning I went to the Cham minorities village and the floating fisheries which was interesting, but all in all as expected they tried to sell ups the same things as everywhere again... Also, the whole trip turned out to be only an hour when I admit I expected a little more. Never mind, at least it was all quite well organised and I …

After sleeping a little longer and a nice breakfast (baguette, omelette, banana and tea) I ventured out to explore HCMC in more detail. I decided to walk to get to know the city and know my way around which is simply impossible if you get taken around by any wehicle. Oh btw, they don't have the usual tuc tuc's in Saigon, they only have cyclos (well …

Going underground and back in time...

A travel blog entry by anja.

My half day tour started as planned around 8.15 in the morning. Our tour guide was an old war veteran which made it a bit more interesting because he had a lot to tell. Of course, there had to be a bit of a touristy element to the trip so first we were taken to a small organisation that helps disabled people by training them in manufacturing …

Back to familiar territory...HCMC! And not a bad place to end the trip...we love the backpackers area around here, and last night enjoyed popping back into all the places that became favs for us 16 months ago. This morning we hit the markets, and now we are escaping the heat and drinking decent (ie non-Vietnamese) coffee (the Vietnamese …

People were very friendly and helpful. We got a 4 bedded room and we were a group of 3. The room was big and we had a balcony. The room seemed like it hadn't been cleaned in awhile but the bedsheets were alright. The bathroom wasn't very clean. When we checked in they didn't seem to prepared for us even though we had already booked it through the internet. But the room was ok and we didn't want cleaning as we were worried the maids would steal some of our stuff.
